US Lacrosse Philly Convention

I'm curious as to how many forum members will be attending the US Lacrosse convention in Philadelphia? I know that LaxRef and I will be there. In fact, LaxREf will be hosting an official's session. I believe he was named head of the Scholastic Officiating Committee, a nice and well-deserved honor for a guy who puts in tons of hours trying to get the rules and rulebooks in some kind of coherent structure.
Who else will be there? We should plan some kind of get together in the lobby "meeting room" of the convention hotel - you know, the meeting room with all of the beer taps?
Sonny said he'd buy with all the excess money that was raised to pay for his trip to Blaine!

LOL.. did I just hear there'll be an open bar paid for by Sonny! Awesome...

I'll be in Philly the whole weekend. Last year I just went for the MDIA meeting, but I had such a good time in the four or five hours before I headed back to the airport that I decided to stay the whole weekend this year. Doubt I'll get much out of it since I've never coached or played lacrosse in my whole life, but I'll be looking forward to seeing everyone... and drinking on Sonny's tab of course!

Wish it were closer. Still having a hard time justifying $600-700 for airfare and two nights hotel for one full day of meetings. On the other hand, I'm sure the comaraderie is priceless!

There are meetings on Sunday as well. Friday night is more like committee meetings, but you could be on a comittee. Any interest in joining the Scholastic Officials Committee?

For next year, I'm going to push for more officials seminars over a broader time range. Hopefully, there will be enough for officials to want to stay 3 days.

For coaches and players, I think there already are lots of meetings throughout the weekend.

The MDIA Board will be meeting that Friday. I expect the convention will see fewer coaches this year, due to the IMLCA clinic last week.

I heard that the Marriott is not providing the beer stands in the lobby this year, and they'll be discouraging large groups.

I checked out Franklin Hall, they had a picture on the marriot site. It is 32,000 square feet.

I guess it's on.

Lets all meet in front of the rock-it Pocket booth and ridicule Alex. He will really appreciate that. I'll be there. As for the cost, what i did for the Baltimore clinic was went to orbitz every day, and checked. Two weeks ahead I got air and hotel for $440. As for the clinic itself, it was decent for the most part. The vendor village sucked, and got even worse when I found out i didn't win the new harrow uniforms for my team. Damn Commesuoge HS(I hate them so much I purposely butchered their name).
All the clinics were pretty good. The two on sunday morning made it all worth it. Coach Kaley from NYIT was up first and was great. he has a great energy, and ran around ranting and raving. next up was Coach Berkman from salisbury. He gave some great insight on how be builds his winners. More importantly i finally learned how to teach my kids a zone defense. All in all it was a great time.

Worst of all, Comsewogue got brand-new Rebelwear uniforms last year - they need the Harrow's like a hole in the head. Big Head Todd will gladly accept their uniform donation! A NJ HS coach scored 30 sets of STX I-Pro custom gloves for his team at the recruiting roundtable give-away - not bad! The best deal of the show was STX selling samples of the new Kannon/Crankshaft 10 and Proton Power for 1/2 retail to HS coaches only. I got the Kannon for $60.00 complete.
