i dont know if we are even being allowed to talk about this...delete if you must.

i wasnt at the conference meeting so i dont know what all was said. so i would like to hear what people think about this. but i know what i have been hearing and it isnt good

i dont understand. after reading this:
http://www.uslia.com/news.php?action=fullnews&id=281

it doesnt seem to me like lindenwood did anything wrong. and come on, you would have to be a fool to not see what lindenwood has done for this conference.

im not here to judge anyones motives, but i would hate to see this conference lose a team of their calibur over something this rediculous.

This whole thing really saddens me. I hope that a solution can be found. Lindenwood has a great program and I believe has played and operated their program in the spirit of what we have tried to achieve in the USL MDIA for the sport of Lacrosse. I also believe they have conducted themselves within the rules we have laid down in the USL MDIA and deserve to be rewarded for that not to have their championship seasons stripped from them. I also believe we should reward people not punish them for making strides to improve the venue of College Lacrosse in America.

To punish them makes no sense to me and I'm hopeful the USL MDIA Board will resolve this quickly. I could make some personal attacks against a couple of people I know that sit on the GRLC Exec. Board but that is not going to promote our sport or help the situation. I'm sure a great deal of opinions are going to surface but let's remember this league is about promoting the sport of Lacrosse and developing College age Men into winners.

As a great fan of the game I hope Due Process takes place and that a good solution to this problem for all parties involved will happen that will honor the sport of Lacrosse and promote the sport of Lacrosse.

God Bless,

Has Lindenwood's fate been decided for the 2006 season? I see they are in the polls, but have not heard whether or not they are in the league. Some voters may be confused whether or not they are eligible for votes . . .
Always on point . . .

let lindenwood play. i think the ex head coach of some team in the conf. is just bitter..not to name any names. if any teams win the conf and goes to nationals just cause lindenwood cant play then they arent really winners. i say let everyone in the GRLC play, and the winner of the championship goes to nationals.

From what I understand, they are on probabtion. In all the articles I read I did not see anything that stated they were not eligible for polls. They are playing this year, they just can't go to the GRLC tourney.

First off, I don't claim to have any first-hand knowledge of this situation, so keep that in mind.

But this whole situation reminds me of what happened to my university's baseball team. We'd been the conference whipping boys for a long time, since we were a school known for academics in a conference of schools that had little in common with us other than geogrpahy. We were scheduled to move to a conference of like-minded schools the next year.

But in that last year, our baseball team played great and won the conference. The other schools got together and decided that we had used an ineligible player because a graduate student played on our team. This graduate student had been an undergrad at our school and had not used up his baseball eligibility, so by NCAA rules he was eligible. However, the other schools decided that conference rules prohibited it. The really interesting part is that we were the only school in the conference with graduate programs in anything!

From what I've heard--again, I could be wrong--Lindenwood violated GRLC rules but not MDIA rules. Is that right? If so, I hope someone can step in a force a resolution.

Personally, I don't think it makes a difference if the school calls a team Varsity or not. It's just a name. However, IMHO, MDIA teams should not be able to award sports-based scholarships to players.

*If a team is not eligible for their own conference tournament, how then can they go further in the national playoff system? Is there a precedent for this? Are there degrees of ineligibility, like on a case by case basis or is there one set of rules for all teams?

I am sure that those making the decision will look at it objectively. The talk of jealousy and vindicativeness should put aside, by everyone.

*Troy is a friend of mine and this is not meant in any way to disrespect him or his team. It is simply meant as a general set of questions. As this sport, at this level, grows more and more, this is just the first of many serious decisions that are going to be made.
