So will Cal's Cameron Sampson (Berkeley High)

How would you know someone's reason for transferring to Berkeley High. I went to Berkeley High and the only reason people transferred there was so they didn't have to go to Richmond or Oakland schools. The only exception was women's basketball. They managed to recruit people from all over the bay area.
No one in their right mind would transfer to Berkeley High for lacrosse. Until about 6 or 7 years ago, no one had played before they got to high school. E
I don't think I used the word "loaded". The kid who will probably be the leading scorer this year is not a Berkeley resident. As for Lucio you are mixing a time when lacrosse was a club sport up with the present when it is a CIF sport. There are quite a few lacrosse players in Oakland. Most of the kids who go to O'Dowd live there and College Prep and Head Royce also have teams. You are correct about the number of interdistrict transfers at Berkeley High. It is loaded with them both legal transfers and ones claiming Berkeley addresses. I never said anything about recruiting players. I only made the comment that no one wants to go to those public schools and that Berkeley High and O' Dowd were the real choice for serious players in a rather large area. Where do you get the idea that Richmond and Oakland are all minorities? It is largely a Hills Flatland divide.Bluevelvet wrote:strykr11 wrote:Well there are....How do you know the reasons any player from outside the district transferred?...Not having your sport at your local public high school is a valid reason for an interdistrict transfer at Berkeley High. Who are they?
Once again, Stryker, you argue possiblities as if they were a reality. Are you actually arguing that the Berkeley high lacrosse team is loaded with transfers from Oakland and Richmond because those schools don't have lacrosse and that Berkeley High has it's pick of all the outstanding Oakland and Richmond lacrosse players. Jeez, that is just ridiculous. There aren't more than a few Lacrosse players in Oakland and Richmond, total. Berkeley High has a difficult time getting it's own, home grown minority students to try out for lacrosse let alone recruit at a school that has no players. Ask Ravaging Beast or Laxaholic, they went to BHS.
There are many interdistrict transfers at BHigh. None, that I am aware of, are for lacrosse. I have only heard of one attempt and that was Lucio, he was denied.
There may be some Berkeley High students that live outside of Berkeley. A couple of them may be on the lacrosse team but I guarantee you they did not finagle their way into Berkeley High for lacrosse.

You just don't have a clue.
People with first hand experience tell you the realities and you continue to ignore the truth and try to fashion a theoretical argument that is patently absurd.
Name a Berkeley High player from outside the district who transferred to Berkeley High for lacrosse.
Better yet, name a good lacrosse player from the Oakland or Richmond public school system.
strykr11 wrote:I think you do not understand the gist of what I have written. Because the schools in Oakland and Richmond are so terrible, for those kids who are coming out of the local clubs and want to play at a level above Saint Mary's, College Prep and Head Royce, the choice for a large area is Berkeley High and O'Dowd. There ae no good lacrosse players in the Oakland or Richmond public school system. They have no teams. I never said or implied that they did or that there were any good players in those schools.
Bluevelvet wrote:The gist of what you argued was that despite the fact that the Acalanes lacrosse club had players from several schools at the same time, it was no advantage because Berkley High could grab anyone from Richmond to San Leandro.
This argument is ridiculous because no one transfers to Berkeley High for lacrosse. In theory, maybe they could, but they don't. Most Berkley High transfers don't know what lacrosse is.
