Beating a 1AA team by 7 points during a season Texas State didn't even make the playoffs for 1AA!!!....now there's something to talk about. Let's not mention the last time we met on the lacrosse field, bc that is what this forum is all about

cheers

Texas State (TSU) will be in LA the weekend of the Big XII Tourney battling for supremecy of the south against LSU.

Tulane is not scheduled to play that weekend.

Big XII Tournament...

Postby devildog0351 on Fri Dec 09, 2005 11:51 am

No it probably wasn't a great win last year against TSU, but if you are going to use that last year vs this year argument, Baylor was a totally different football team this year... We were 5-6 and got 1 top 25 vote in week 6. UT is the only team that really blew us out of the water, Tech only a 6 point game until mid-late 4th quarter.

The thing about last year on the lacrosse field, props for beating us; but don't make it sound like a blow out... remember it was 12-13 in double OT!

This being the first that I have heard of the road trip, it sucks we're going to the NO without a stop on Bourbon. I guess we will have to make the most of Baton Rouge.

Looks like you don't need to be in consideration since TSU lost in OT!! It was a tough one though.

As much as it pains me, I have to defend Baylor here. Baylor will NOT be kicked out of the Big 12 for several reasons:

1) As our private school, they allow us to be a private conference. To maintain that status and the number of schools in the Big 12 South, we would have to exchange Baylor for another southern private school (not a public like TSU). Although you might make a case for Rice or TCU, Baylor got in, they didnt and thats how it is.

2) Yes Baylor has fallen from grace in football and mens basketball (the money sports) but they are getting better in both. Also, though their luck in the money sports hasn't been good, they've recently brought home 2 National Titles in Tennis and WBasketball so they have been getting exposure for the Big 12.

3) Finally, its about politics. Alums from UT, A&M and Baylor comprise a lot of political pressure in this state. Though I'm sure no good Aggie or Longhorn will admit it, they want Baylor to stay because they each have a longer and more storied history with Baylor than SMU/TCU/Rice. Thats why Baylor will stay and any talk of someone taking their spot is moot.

Div 1-AA national championship!!! HA, don't make me laugh. I would rather be 5th in the Big XII South than the div 1-AA national champion....Texas State is worthless at just about every sport with scholarship atheletes.

I mean come on, losing to northern iowa!?! No D-1 school would ever lose to a school like nothern iowa. I love how texas state people get a big head and start talking about moving us out to go into the big XII, if texas state was in the Big XII they wouldn't win one game in any sport. Same goes for Rice, SMU, UNT, and TCU (in every sport other than football....)

Careful there... Texas State may have lost the national championship game to Northern Iowa, but considering the size of their program and the school's dedication to athletics, reaching the nat'l championship game is quite an accomplishment. Besides, they lost the game in OT... it happens.

As far as moving into the BigXII, Texas State isn't ready yet, but it wouldn't surprise me to see it in years to come. As for Baylor, sorry guys, but yall are the weakest link in the BigXII right now. Aside from the whole private school balancing out scenario, if Texas State were to move into the BigXII, I'd be very nervous if I were a Baylor fan.

As far as the other teams (TSU, UNT, TCU, Rice, SMU) not winning a game, you might wanna take another look at Baylor's glistening 2-6 conference record this year in football.

They're not getting big-headed, just excited... and what's wrong with that?

Sorry Sonny, but I have to point something out to BaylorLax09. TX State has defeated Big XII schools in sports in recent years, take a look at the sport of Baseball. The Athletic Department I work for, Sam Houston State, has defeated your SMU's, Rice, UNT's and TCU's in other sports besides football! I-AA football schools are on level playing field as all of the schools mentioned in regards to scholoarships in every sport but football. Remember, TX State, SFA, or SHSU can win a Div I National Championship in any sport other than football.

Sorry, had to defend my fellow I-AA schools.

Benji,

Ha! at least Baylor is winning national championships....oh and by the way thats Division 1-A. Can you even name the last time texas tech won a national championship?? Or for that matter how about a Big XII Championship? Have they even won one in a decade?

Watch your mouth before you start raggin on baylor for posting a 5-6 record in football. Trying looking at your whole school's sports programs, and Baylor makes a much bigger contribution to the big Xii and the national scene than tech or a&m.

If you wanna continue this conversation, feel free to start up a thread somewhere else.
