Discuss/Report Scores for Wed, 2/9/05 - Tues, 2/15

A&M slid plenty of times last night. Some of you act like they don't understand the concept. That is not the case at all. What they try to do just like everyone else is emphasize the man to man defense and lock down on their man so that their is no need to slide. Of course against a team like CSU you will have to slide some to stop them. The slide was not what hurt A&M last night. It was the middies giving CSU's shooters too much space. They would sluff in to help and give a shooter too much cushion about 12 yards from the cage. You can get away with that against most teams, but not CSU. They always found the open guy and buried their shots.

My question is why on earth do you slide late against skilled players like CSU's attackmen? Are A & M's defensemen so good that they don't require the extra help? I understand that they play an uptempo game, but if they continue this nonsense of defense they will not be performing well on the big stage.

Deeke played great against the CSU no fear from the freshman.

As for Colorado State not having swager, my god don't motivate them to get swager. If they are scared and unsure of their abilities when they are beating people by 16 who knows what will happen when they are bringing some swager. Furthermore, the whole defense wears skull and cross bone stickers on the front of their helmets. As an attackman do you want to dodge against a pole that is 6'3 230 and has a skull sticker staring you in the face? No swager no attitude, get out of here.

if you're playing attack, a sticker certainly shouldn't intimidate you. As for size? ... merely a detail. My biggest problem with this league is that people fear teams liek CSU not because of their skill, but because of things like stickers, websites, and polls. Play the game, they're only human.

Wow...10 goals. Seems a little excessive in such a decisive win. There are plenty of chances for kids in this league to score ten goals, but most of the time it doesn't happen just out of respect. Hopefully he doesn't drop ten on us this weekend in San Marcos.

Cheers

Makes me wonder, when did he score his goals. If he is still shooting then would that be considered running it up? Fare to say that UNT might just be a one man show. He is a good player, but when anyone scores 10 goals that gets a little ridiculous.

The team went into the weekend without one of their starting attackman. They've only got four, so the backup was already playing. Chris played most of the game, but I don't think anyone was trying to run up the score. Every player got plenty of playing time and it's hard to tell any player not to shoot when he has an open look. I think Chris scored 7 or 8 against Tech in a close game last year. This was the 3rd 10 goal game of his career, so it's not that ridiculous.
