Ethan, much to my surprise, you are right after I visited the Cheerwine website and found a site within that website that it does sell all over. In fact, I found it a little bit funny because it was eerily similar to the idea of Blue and Red States. The shade of red is more like burgundy when you click on "About Us" and then click on "The terrority" to find out where Cheerwine is sold. I found out that 7-Up Bottling Company situated in Killeen, Texas sell that. Hmm....

A Midwest favorite of mine that you can't find out West is Faygo (I've seen sugar-free stuff out here but not the high-octane ones). My kids always tease me about the bottles of Rock n Rye and Redpop that make it into my bags for the return trip.

Where was Vernors first made?

Can anyone name the favorite soft drink of the Insane Clown Posse (a.k.a. ICP)?

Cheerwine is good (probably better with rye. Ah, rye and Coke!) but I prefer Dr. Chek from the ol' Winn-Dixie.

Another favorite of mine is Ale8One sold in the Lexington, KY area. Spicy ginger ale!

For more info on Ale8One:

I love Ale8One, especially with bourbon. My wife gets perturbed everytime we drive through Kentucky as I stop at multiple grocery stores to pick up six packs of the stuff.

Not quite rootbeer.... more like Strawberry. all that Faygo talk reminded me of the dynamic duo of "Violent J" and "Shaggy 2 Dope".

Wouldn't that be Redpop?

Vernors is best when in a Boston Cooler--the gingerale version of the rootbeer float. Ironically it didn't originate in Boston and most people from Boston have never heard of it. It was named after Boston Blvd in Detroit where it was created.

Vernors, BTW was created by a Detroit pharmacist--quite by mistake-- in 1866. In 1862, before leaving to fight in the Civil War he had stored a mixture of ingredients in a barrel. When he returned in 1866 he found that the mixture had fermented. The rest is history.

Faygo is also a Motor City creation.

Great, now you guys got me thirsty and I still have another two and a half weeks to wait for my Rock n Rye... :?
