I am guessing the football is an old one like North Dallas Forty or something like that. I have never seen that actually so I couldn't tell you if they won or not.

Part of the original question - "that were not based on a true story"

They really didn't play softball in A League of Their Own...they may have been girls but they were playing baseball. "There's no crying in baseball."

Oh and the two main characters...Kit and Dottie, were on the same team but then Kit was transferred to a different team before the championship games and her team ended up beating her old team which Dottie still played for (The Peaches).

So I think the source doesn't have to accept that answer. Now you can go back to only having 3 wildcards.

Basketball: Blue Chips?
Football: I was gonna say Unnecessary Roughness but i have no clue
Baseball: For Love of the Game, only because they dont make it to the world series

Boking: Rocky
Golf: Tin Cup
Karate: Best of the Best

Sorry i just realized that there were multiple pages, im an idiot, but Best of the Best is the only new one i can really add

I have a wild card for your source that I doubt any of you will remember or care to have seen: Ice Castles--Figure Skating. Yes, I know, it was the classic teenage chick flick of the late 70's but it should fit all the criteria.

Wasn't there also a gymnastics movie in the 80's?

It's been a while since I saw the end, but did they win the game in The Natural? (Baseball movie with Robert Redford as the main character)
