Basketball: Blue Chips (Benson - did they win it all after they got Shaq?)
What was the basketball movie with Kevin Bacon where he blows out a knee and ends up going to Africa to recruit 7-footers?

They didn't show the championship game but there was text at the end to tell you what happens.
At the end, the coach confesses all the stuff. I remember reading that Shaq and Penny's character go pro and the coach was coaching high school basketball at some small high school. I am guessing they got put on probation.
I watch way too much TV/movies.

Baseball movie - that horrible, horrible thing with Kevin Costner playing for the Detroit Tigers...or Mr. Baseball with Tom Selleck
Basketball movie - Amazing Grace and Chuck
Wild card - Swimfan with that psyco chick, "YOU LOVE ME!!"
The source on the question says that Youngblood's plot revolved more around the character making the league. Rob Lowe i think it was.
Amazing Grace and Chuck basketball was not the main focus.
Mr. Baseball May be valid
The source had not seen swim fan but suspects that swimming was not the focus of the plot, stalking was

Will the "source" accept Mystery Alaska for hockey? What about Cool Runnings for a wild-card? Or was that based on fact? What about Blue Chips for basketball?
It's cool that you have a "source"...

i don't have the movie buff knowledge to debate most of the facts, the source begrudgingly accepts 'a league of their own' but everyone is still missing perhaps the best wildcard answer.
cool runnings was based on a true story.
Eddie is about as close as you can get, but not the right answer.
the sitcom the star of the bball movie was in was cheers (an obscure movie), but the football movie is a classic and the 3rd wildcard is too.
