For the Fan, For the Sport
The CollegeLAX web site primarily exists to promote the various teams and conferences that compete under the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) banner. Additionally, CollegeLAX will occasionally offer content covering other levels of the sport of men's lacrosse.
The purpose of the CollegeLAX Message Forums is to provide a respectful online community where lacrosse players, coaches, parents, and fans can share information, discuss various topics, and/or ask questions about the "fastest sport on two feet."
Registration is not required to read any of the messages on the various forums. However an approved CollegeLAX message board account is required to post a new thread or respond to an existing thread. To register with the CollegeLAX message board account, you must use and maintain a valid, up-to-date commercial or school based email address. (i.e. One cannot use a free email accounts such as Yahoo, GMail, Hotmail to register for a message board account.)
These message board rules are implemented to reduce or eliminate abusive, inflammatory, obscene, libelous, illegal, and otherwise problematic posts and to enhance the experience for site visitors by maximizing amount of worthwhile material made available for viewing.
Listed below are the general rules and guidelines for users of the CollegeLAX Message Forums. Any message posting on the CollegeLAX Message Forums denotes acceptance and understanding of these stated rules and policies. Furthermore, these rules may be revised at any time at the sole discretion of the webmaster(s).
It is highly suggested that you read these rules, in their entirety, before you register for a message board account on CollegeLAX.
1. KEEP IT CIVIL; DO NOT "FLAME"; ATTACKS ON MCLA TEAMS/CONFERENCES/PLAYERS NOT ALLOWED; NO CURSE WORDS ALLOWED
Do not personalize any post. Debate vs. flaming: This is a friendly place. Debate is encouraged, but flaming is not allowed. Flaming is personally attacking someone. For example, saying "Any idiot knows that isn't true" is flaming because the person was just called an idiot, while "I passionately disagree" is not flaming even though it's rather emotionally charged. “Attacks” on MCLA players, coaches, teams, conferences, referees, and/or administrators are not allowed under any circumstances. Finally no curse words are allowed on the message forums. Inserting characters for curse words is not an acceptable substitute!
Bottom line -- If you can’t make your point with out disparaging another member of the MCLA community, then do not make it on CollegeLAX. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
2. STAY ON TOPIC
All of the forums are topic specific. Please post your topic in the appropriate forum. Off-topic items appearing on any of the forums may be moved or deleted without warning or explanation. Read the forum descriptions carefully before posting.
3. DON'T VIOLATE COPYRIGHT; POST IN YOUR OWN WORDS
Do not copy and post from articles, other copyrighted sources, or comments written by someone else. The forums are for you to express your views, not someone else's. Copyrighted information should be referenced with summary, brief quoted excerpts, and/or links. Messages or parts of messages written by someone else may not be posted without permission of the original author. The exception is if you are quoting what someone else has posted. In either case, the message should be posted in such a manner that it is possible to know who author is. Quotes or some other system should be used to differentiate between the quoted part and the original part of the message.
4. THIS IS OUR HOUSE: THE MANAGEMENT DECIDES
This means when you use these forums, you are the guest and we are the host, and you are to act accordingly. Do not insult your host or you are toast. If there is a dispute between participants on the boards, the Forum facilitators will arbitrate. In all cases, we may make the final judgment call. Our decisions are final and are not open to further discussion.
5. CENSORSHIP
Follow these rules. The CollegeLAX message board is not a democracy, and, if you violate the approved use policy, your comments (and perhaps your username) will be deleted. Repeated violations of forum policy are even more likely to result in your username and privilege to post be revoked or suspended. Actions taken by forum administrators, such as the removal of the post, should be taken as a warning. Publication of private messages between moderators and individual users is illegal.
6. EXERCISE GOOD JUDGMENT
Avoid posting what might be called private, personal information. Just because you know something doesn't mean you have the right to tell the world. Recognize that some information should only be communicated by the source or someone close to him/her/it.
7. MAKE YOUR SUBJECT CLEAR
Make sure that your subject line clearly reflects the content of your post. If you are asking a question in the post, there should be a question mark in the subject line. If the content of the message IS the subject line and the message is blank, add (nm) for "no message" at the end of subject.
8. AVOID STARTING NEW THREADS UNNECESSARILY; NO CROSS POSTING
Do not start a new thread when one on that same subject already exists in a forum. Cross posting (i.e. posting the same topic to multiple forums) is prohibited. When possible, try to reply to an existing post. Help maximize the content available to visitors & reserve disk space by introducing new topics judiciously.
9. AVOID COMMERCIALS – FOR OTHERS AND FOR YOURSELF
(a) Do not post commercial material or use posts to advertise your (friend's) web site. Particularly annoying are posts about a "great web site" that are made (with no acknowledgement, of course) by someone associated with that web site. (b) Also avoid disguised posts about yourself, especially those promoting what a wonderful player you are. People see through them, and you end up looking rather foolish. Let your actions on the field speak for themselves. (c) Do not post questions about a camp, clinic, tournament, etc. with which you are associated in the hope of generating free advertising for it. (d) Coaching Position listings are OK, but they should be submitted in the correct forum. Parties interested in advertising their products or services on CollegeLAX should contact us:
http://www.collegelax.us/contact.php
10. CONTENT
Abusive or obscene language will result in removal of the message. If the message is flagrantly abusive, contains obscene language, or is otherwise blatantly unacceptable, it will be removed and the poster may be prohibited from further posts.
In addition the following topics are specifically prohibited:
Racism
Hatred
Harassment
Adult content
Obscene material
Nudity or pornography
Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
Any illegal content
Any link to or any image from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by CollegeLAX, in its sole discretion, after you have been informed that the CollegeLAX webmaster so deems the material as unacceptable. Any posts that attempt to get around any rule in any way or are suspect as such by board monitors will also be removed.
11. LEGALITY
No posts should be made that are illegal in nature.
12. PRIVACY
No personal information about other people that could be considered private should be posted on the site without permission of the person whom the information is about.
13. YOUR LEGAL LIABILITY
There are laws, both civil and criminal, against certain forms of speech, if so proven in court, such as libel, defamation of character, harassment, and threats. Accusations of this sort, however, are legal allegations that are best decided by a court of law; we do not arbitrarily make that determination. It is, of course, the prerogative of any poster who feels any laws have been violated to pursue legal action. Posters are responsible for what they post and should realize there may be serious consequences for illegal behavior.
14. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
It is expected that all posters read and adhere to our policies. Ignorance of these rules is not an acceptable excuse for policy violations. In the immortal words of one Dean Vernon Wormer “Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.”
Happy Posting!
