I think that the refs in football have a much bigger chance to impact the game than the refs in lacrosse. Football is more possession based and a turnover is a much bigger deal than in lacrosse. Field position is huge in football, and pretty nonexistant in the game. In my opinion, noncalls by the refs cost USC the game against Clemson.
But, being a ref, there's a lot more that you have to think about before blaming the refs. The refs'll do all that they can (except in extreme cases, ie, the USC CU game....kidding). Striving for perfection isn't perfection, but it's the most you can ask for. If every coach and player who yelled at a ref became one, they'd become a much better player and we'd have a much better game as a whole.
Umps, refs less than perfect, so ease up
