Nick Silva Hired At Fontbonne University

Postby Troy Hood on Wed Nov 16, 2005 2:58 pm

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Please join me in congratulating Nick Silva on his appointment as Head Lacrosse Coach at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, MO.

Nick has had a major impact on lacrosse at Lindenwood University; with both the Men's and Women's programs. His passion for and knowledge of the game of lacrosse has been invaluable in our progress as a program. He has also been and will continue to be a prominent figure in the game in the St. Louis area.

I believe he will more than provide the spark needed to get a fledgling DIII program off the ground.

Good luck Nick!

Nick Silva Hired as New Head Coach at Fontbonne

With the first NCAA lacrosse program in the state of Missouri, Fontbonne University has named Nick Silva to lead the Griffins.

Silva comes to Fontbonne after an assistant coaching stint at Lindenwood University, where he received his masters degree and helped guide the Lindenwood team to a berth in the USL-MDIA National Tournament.

In addition to coaching at Lindenwood, Silva has also coached at numerous summer camps both locally and on the East Coast. During his playing career at NCAA Division I Manhattan College in New York, Silva was a four-time All-Conference selection, his conference's Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, a two-time team captain, and also a 2003 pre-season All-American.

In addition to coaching at Fontbonne, Silva is also the director of Stickhead Lacrosse leagues and camps. He is a native of St. Louis and graduated from Parkway West High School.

Fontbonne is an NCAA Division III institution located in St. Louis, Missouri. The men's and women's lacrosse teams will begin varsity play during the 2006-2007 season.

I may have missed it, being on the other side of the state, but didn't Fontbonne already hire a head coach, Jon Bifulco, in June. What happened to that decision.

Either way, congrats to Nick, I always enjoyed playing against him in HS.

Congrats Nick! Good luck out there, but I want you to please take this memory with you: This past summer.......... Chicago Shoot Out.......Overtime..................3 secs left in the 1st overtime.......... Towbey who is playing for the N.Y.P.D team comes off the bench.........gets his match up........ takes a young man by the the name of Nick behind the cage................. crossed him over..............jumped from behind the cage.............. air gait....................and scoressssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss no time left on the clock, N.Y.P.D goes to the championship game (but we lose in the final game 5-3) Good luck buddy, I wish you all the best!
