Its attributed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which is the largest local paper in Milwaukee, so I would guess it is true.

Not good news for them.

Matt, my friend, don't ever assume anything you read or see in any media outlet is true.

"Terry Dale said he shared the photos after coming across them on www.webshots.com. He said he participated in both sides of hazing while serving in a fraternity at Marquette. Since graduating, he has determined that hazing is dangerous and wrong. He now feels so strongly about the practice that he searches the Internet for evidence of hazing"

not condoning hazing, but duuuude...get a life.

We all have different objective functions. I'm sure there are a lot of people that would tell us to get a life if told that we spend time posting on internet message boards.

But it's on the internet... It must be true.

But seriously, you are right, John, but I guess my point is that this story isn't from the National Enquirer, or some fly by night paper. It's from a well known, reputable paper.

How many people have done things at 21 that they thought were a good idea, only to turn around later and realize how horribly wrong they were? He's admitting his past to help prevent it from becoming the futre.

It is infact true that Marquette has been suspended. I talked to one of the players at the GLLC league meeting a few weeks back. They are playing in the GLLC this year so yes it is true.

How are they able to play period (in any league)?

If the article is true, they are suspended from all club activities. From the article:
MILWAUKEE - The men's lacrosse team at Marquette University has been suspended for a year after the administration determined that hazing occurred at a party involving beer, bongs and thongs.

Father Andrew Thon, Marquette's vice president of student affairs, said that the university decided to cancel the club team's spring season and suspend it as a student organization after holding a conduct hearing last month.

I don't know their situation. However, wouldn't it be possible for the guys from the team to form a "new," non-university lacrosse club and play games against whoever they could get to play them? Of course, they'd be out of luck when it came to University field space for games and practice, University funding and transportation, etc., but the guys could probably still play lacrosse.

Then again, if they did that, the University might tell them to get stuffed next year, when presumably they'd like to be an "official" club again.

So what were the search criteria for Mr Dale? Young men....thongs....alcohol.......

Somebody'd better check to see if he is or was ever ordained.

I think Marquette should have some IT people examine Mr Dale's hard drive before they go overboard.

Man, that sounds pretty funy to me. Of course, that comes from a kid still in college with no possible understanding of real life or the inherent dangers of thongs. To be sure, I've never actually worn a thong, especially at a social gathering but it seems that there is little harm done in such hilarious and unharmful (except unintentional cases of frostbite to the unmentionables) team moments. I don't condone forced consumption of alcohol or pressured acceptence of any unwanted acts, but if none of these players cared... call me what you will, but if we can't be college kids with no harm done, then what is college for? I'll be 40 and regret my mistakes then, but I'll have to make my 21 year old mistakes first.
Please don't respond with academic assertions; I hope you understood the context of my question, which was rhetorical to begin with.
