Whos the Top Goalies in the LSA?
I was just wondering who you'll felt were the top goalies in the LSA and what makes them the top goalies.

The big two returners are Zach Kurzweil for Texas Tech and Texas State's goalie(Mike?)
They do what any good goalies do. They make good saves and give their teams huge emotional boosts.

i think zack from tech is the best cause hes super tall and big, and takes up a bunch of goal! and g. lopez for baylor is a pretty good keeper except he gets angry when you score on him.
i think lax makes a superb point.

not going to say who i think is the best,(me) , but i will say like a quarterback the most important number to a goalie is wins and losses, and i guess im still one short.
also have to give props to Kurzweil, his consitency makes tech the team that they are and im sure he was more than happy to welcome their new defenseman from butler who is absolutly sick wit it

mikey is an all around good goalie. not only can he stop the ball, he comes up with big saves when the game is on the line..example the UT game. he also knows how and where to clear the ball to. this is where i think he is better the zachs goalie. they are both great goalies and both deserve to be all conf. i guess we will see who the better goalie is at the end of the season. is that better atxlax......

haha, i like your quick response, i thought tu beat swt last year in the playoffs. i likey mikey and think he is a good goalie, i think he will be getting even better this year. he also has a distinct advantage being a lefty, cause lsa shooters arent the most accurate and usually hit him in the stick. just thought you should back it up with a little more info than "he is really good."

yeah atxlacrosse i do think that UT beat Tx state last year in the playoffs. i dont know for sure cause i wasnt here. but i was talking about the UT game in the A&M tourny. i know it was just fall ball.. but i think that he looked really good in cage. thanks for reminding me that he is left handed i forgot. that will make a diff. for shooters in the LSA.

It is obvious y'all are talking about LSA Div A goalies, so what about the talent among the LSA Div. B goalies?

Zach is the best goalie in the A-division. He shows it every time he plays. I took my goalies at A&M and had them watch him. Yeah he is big, but he is just as athletic as anyone. At A&M i saw him make 3 or 4 stuff saves in a row. He makes his defense better by allowing them to play aggressive. They know that it is ok if they get beat, because they know that he is will bail them out if he gets beat. Not only is he a great stopper, but he also leads his team well, and clears the ball well.
Their is more to being an excellent goalie than just stopping the ball, it takes team and defensive leadership, knowing what everyone's defensive assignments are, and being able to execute the clear.

I say we wait till the spring semester to decide "who's the best." If there is one best goalie. I can't really make a decision since this is my freshman year, and I've only seen Zach play one game(and that was at the A&M tournament). I guess those who have seen them play more have more to base their judgements, but I think, in the end, people will realize that they both have different strenths and weaknesses. As for me, I have not seen him play enough to decide.
