I hope that VT and NCS both have good outings against the NCLL teams.
Should be interesting to see the organizational differences and talent levels.
Im sure both teams will represent themselves, and the league, very well.

Any idea how the teams are going to treat the tourny? Will it be like a regular fall tune-up where everyone gets PT? Or will the ACC rivalries take over and ratchet up the intensity?

We're sure that these teams, eventhough it is fall ball, will make this a very exciting tournament. We've played Duke and UNC already this fall and it has been extremely competitive, the Tobacco Road Rivalries take over when the teams take the field. Adding VT, with whom we've gone against the past 2 SELC tournaments will spice things up. Maryland and Virginia, two of the top NCLL teams in the nation, will for sure increase the intensity. This weekend will prove to be extremely exciting.

Scores and updates will be posted on the NC State website along with the USLIA message boards. If you're around Raleigh this weekend, come out to NC State for some good lacrosse action.

ACLC Saturday scores and updates.

Raleigh, NC- The inaugural Atlantic Coast Lacrosse Classic kicked off on Saturday Novermber 12th at NC State University. Teams playing included NC State and Virginia Tech from the USLIA and Duke, Maryland, UNC, and UVa from the NCLL. Here is a recap of the action so far.

After determining the seeding through pool play on Saturday morning (scores posted above,) the teams took the field again Saturday afternoon for full time, elimination games.

NC State v UNC- 1:00 PM
NC State took the field having lost in Overtime to Maryland and having defeated Duke in pool play earlier in the day. NC State went up early in the 1st quarter scoring on multiple opportunities and dominating the Tar Heels eary on. After that however, Carolina took over, scoring multiple unanswered goals and charging back to take the lead. In the 4th quarter with UNC up by 3, NC State was able to answer with several goals and eventually bring the game to 12-11 with 8 seconds left. A great faceoff gave NC State the ball, however the ensuing shot was stuffed by a brilliant Carolina save preserving the win.
Final Score: UNC 12 NC State 11

UVa v Duke- 3:00 PM

UVa entered the contest as the #2 seed from pool B and Duke as the #3 from pool A. A blanaced game from the start, both the Wahoos and the Devils played an excellently matched game. Scoring on multiple opportunities, the teams kept the game close well into the 4th quarter. However, a strong showing by the Blue Devils was able to keep them in front for good.
Final Score: Duke 11 UVa 9

UNC v Virginia Tech- 6:00 PM

The Hokies, coming in after a Bye in the first round, entered to face a Carolina team that was playing in their second game of the afternoon. VT had numbers well over 45 and was able to take advantage and control for most of the game. The Hokies took advantage of their numbers to keep throwing players at Carolina and it showed in the final score. Tech was able to advance with a convincing win.

Final Score: UNC 2 Virginia Tech 14

Duke v Maryland- 8:00 PM

The final contest of the night was a rematch from an earlier pool game between the Terps and the Devils. As their pool game before, this game would prove to be a thriller. A relatively low scoring affair, both teams played a tough game and kept it close throughout. With Duke up by 2 with time winding up, the Terrapins found a way to bring the score within 1, and with seconds left managed to tie the game sending it into Overtime. With Overtime in way, Maryland called a stick check on a Blue Devil and the gamble paid off, the Terrapins were right and got the stick penalty. With the man advantage, Maryland was able to score and seal the game in OT.

Final Score: Duke 5 Maryland 6 OT

It was certainly an exciting day of lacrosse in Raleigh and tomorrow will prove to be nothing less. Playing at Derr Stadium on campus, the six teams will once again take the field to crown the 1st Atlantic Coast Lacrosse Classic Champion. Trophy, and MVP awards will be handed out after the Championship game.

ACLC Action from Sunday

Raleigh, NC- The final 3 games of the Atlantic Coast Lacrosse Classic continued on Sunday at Derr Stadium at NC State.

5th Place Game: NC State v Vriginia- 9:00 AM

After tough losses for both teams during Saturday play, the Wolfpack and the Cavs took to the field to face each other for the first time ever. From the start, NC State dominated the game, jumping off to a 6-1 first quarter. The offense controlled the ball for most of the quarter and was able to capitalize on many multiple opportunities. However, after the 1st, it was all UVA. The Wahoos defense stepped up and shut down NC State's offense as their offense brought the score to 6-6 at halfitme. Second half woes continued for the Pack as Virginia kept capitalizing on several man-up opportunities. In the end, Virginia was able to take advantage of NC State's mistakes en route to a 13-10 Victory

Final Score: NC State 10 UVA 13

3rd Place Game: UNC v Duke- 11:00 AM

This Tobacco Road matchup was not to be as both the Heels and the Devils failed to show up to Raleigh for their 3rd place game.

Championship Game: Maryland v Virginia Tech- 1:00 PM

The Championship game pitted the defending NCLL National Champ Terrapins against the SELC Champion Hokies for the ACLC Crown. Virginia Tech again had overwhelming numbers and was looking to take advantage of their size, but Maryland would not go down without a fight. From the start this game shaped up to be a classic with Maryland getting off to a 3 goal start. But VT wold not be denied as they would capitalize to tie up the score. At the half, Maryland held a slim lead over the Hokies, but VT would not be denied. With stellar play from their goaltender, Virginia Tech was able to bring the score to 7-6 Maryland. From then on it was all Terps, they would go on to score 4 more goals in order to seal their victory and the first ever ACLC title.

Final Score: Maryland 11 Virginia Tech 7

Do I assume correctly that the teams from MD, Duke, NC are club teams from those schools, not their D1 squads?
They would not be eligible for MDIA because the schools have varsity programs also, correct?

Correct. MD, UVA, Duke, and UNC were all club teams
