Metro State College Lax

Metro State College Lax

Metro State College.

Central front range location.

2nd largest enrollment in Colorado.

Fields at the Tivoli.

Close to 20,000 students.

Close to 40 high schools in the surrounding areas that have lacrosse programs.

This team would be immediately competitive.

I have recently been in contact with a student at the school that is attempting to put together a team and I will be assisting him in this endeavor.

Does anyone know of any history with lax at Metro State? Maybe someone has attempted to build this program in the past and could be a resource of ours now? Please help if you can.

Metro State had a team in the fall of 1998, when I first arrived at CSU. Not sure how or why they are no longer a team. One problem that you might run into is the fact that Metro is really a commuter school and there isn't a strong "campus" nucleus like you would find in a normal college town.
Always on point . . .

We had a nasty long pole mid out in Montana my freshman year who transfered to Metro State and he was just in Missoula this past weekend and said that he's seen good talent at that school. I'm not very familiar with the school, but with lacrosse the way it is in Colorado I'm sure they'd do fine.

You need to talk to Rob Gormley... I believe he helped run it/put it together a few years ago. Really involved in the lacrosse community in Denver, especially with Breakaway Sports here in Denver. If you call them up [(303) 779-4494 or (877) 535-2963], you should be able to track him down.

I'm currently a student on the Auraria Campus here at CU-Denver. I think the only big hurdles to jump are getting a club lacrosse team on the Division II Womens Soccer National Champions' field. That and, like Alex said, getting a solid team together at a commuter school... but that's something that can be overcome... probably pretty easily.
