In Stanford's defense, their starting QB went down in the second drive in the UC-Davis game. That said, they still probably should have won the game.

SEC out of conference schedule:

Alabama:
Middle Tennessee State
Utah State

Arkansas:
Missouri State (1-AA)
@USC
Louisiana Monroe

Auburn:
Ball State
Western Kentucky (1-AA)

Florida:
Wyoming
Louisiana Tech

Georgia:
Boise State
Louisiana Monroe

Kentucky:
Louisville
Idaho State (1-AA)
Indiana

LSU:
North Texas
Arizona State
Appalachian State (1-AA)

Ole Miss:
@Memphis
Wyoming
The Citadel (1-AA)

Miss. State:
Murray State (1-AA)
@Tulane
Houston

S. Carolina:
Central Florida
Troy
Clemson

Tennessee:
UAB
@Notre Dame
Memphis

Vanderbilt:
@Wake Forest
Richmond (1-AA)
Midd. Tenn. State

Doesn't look that tough, save for a few. Not too many road games either. Weak OOC, plus a soft lower half (One of whom we took advantage of). Not saying the SEC is weak by any means, but I am sick of hearing how weak the USC, and PAC-10's, schedule is.

Not that I'm defending the SEC OOC scheduling, because it is generally weak (overall). But Georgia Tech (ACC) beat Auburn back on 9/3. Georgia Tech will host Georgia on 11/26. Your information appears to be incomplete.

and you left off the FSU UF game.

When you play in a conference that has 3, sometimes 4 top 10 teams, the non-conference sched is insignificant.

The SEC doesnt have to have difficult OOC schedules when their in conference schedules are extremely hard. I would also love to see someone trying to pull off Tennessee's schedule this year. Almost half of their schedule is to teams in the top 10. #6 Florida, #3 LSU, #5 Georgia, #5 Alabama, #9 Notre Dame.

I would go as far to say that if Vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky and Miss State were in the Pac 10, they would fare much better than they do in the SEC. Having the current best team in college football doesnt automatically make the Pac10 a good conference.

Danny and Beta-
I hope you feel the same way if the RMLC and WCLL dominate the MDIA top 15 polls despite having more losses than than teams from less competitive conferences.

for the top 3-4 teams i do...

but the only difference is most of the WCLL teams you are probably referring to lose out of conference games to the weaker conference's teams (chico 05 BC, SFU) (CPSLO 04 Texas, Texas AM) but usually remain ranked ahead of them.

but to segway the topics, you could say a mid to lower level SEC team would fare better in the PAC 10 just as a mid to lower level WCLL team would fare better in a lesser MDIA conference (not interested in jabbing a specific conferenc).

Conference differences aside, I dont see how college football hasnt incorporated a bowl system yet. It would put an end to all conference debates of who is better. Isnt the main reasoning behind this not occuring because of the lengthening of the schedules? Having the season start perhaps in the last, or second to last week in August could squeeze in a 4 week, 16 team playoff system that would still end in January. Hell, teams could afford to play one less game. Id love to see FSU/ND, UGA/UTex or USC/Miami matchups.

call me crazy, but i dont' want a playoff in college football. The regular season is basically already a playoff. You lose and your chances are seriously diminished. There is nothing like the atmosphere of the regular season in college football. Regular season matchups would lose their significance between two playoff bound teams.

Agreed. A playoff would trivialize the regular season and further hurt mid-major teams and lower major teams by hurting their chances at any kind of championship (bowl, conference, national).

Sorry about the incomplete data. It was a late night, tired eyes failed me in my complilation. I think the point is still valid though.

The one thing I have been wishing for all season is this. There is a strong possibility that the PAC-10, Big-12, SEC, and ACC will have undefeated teams in USC, Texas, Bama/Georgia, and Virginia Tech. I am hoping for this because a playoff is very necessary in College Football. Being at UTA with no football team I am a VA tech fan (Grandfather attended school when it was known as Virginia Polytechnic Institue) so I am hoping that with VA Tech's schedule they can pass UT in the Polls (beat #13 BC last night, have Miami and Virginia to play, and if all goes well will play Florida State in ACC championship).

But the real reason for this post is for the hope that four teams finish undefeated, that will begin some excellent debate for a playoff.

We are barely past the half-way point in the season. Lets let the entire season play out before you jump to any assumptions about how many undefeated teams there will be at the end of the season.

4 teams finishing undefeated is the fault of every major school in every major conference because they refuse to schedule legitimate out of conference games. I understand their reasoning at times, but honestly... look at the Minnesota football out of conference slate www.gophersports.com
