Who will win this years USLIA Div. A Championship?

I was just curious what some people thought the top teams this year were going to be..... i know its only fall ball but a few of the perennial powers (BYU and Arizona) looked particularly vulnerable and there were a few surprises such as Arizona State. Anyways I was just wanted to hear what everyone thought.

ok, so i may be biased because i would like to see another team win the national tourney but i think sonoma was severely undershot so far in the people's poles. i saw ucsb last weekend and they of course looked good, but not nearly as good as last year. sure it's fall ball, but i don't think that ucsb should be leading this pole so dominantly. also, i have heard great things about cu boulder. i would love to see them really do well this year.

Where is the "other" option? And I know we can be mad in the PAC-10 about how we get no love for football, but to leave out FSU as an option and to put in UCSD is odd to me (not knocking UCSD at all, just going off of finishes from last year)

Have to agree with you there. After losing two close games to UCSB you can bet they'll be buckin' for the number one spot. I don't think they'll be number one, but I believe Chapman has a lot of potential to make it in the top 25 at least.

After the snafu that cost them the trip last year, CSU is really fired up to win this year.

And, of course, I see Claremont going all the way in Division B!

Oregon and FSU maybe? or perhaps the wcll and rmlc should just go form their own league?

In Blockhar's defense, he meant to include FSU. I suggest writing in any candidates not listed above. It does sound like FSU has a pretty awesome group playing this year. They stand a pretty good chance of going all the way.

also to add to what lil lady said. i watched a little of chapman against ucsb and they difinitely have an amazing team. i think they will be the sleepers of da in the wcll. anyway a huge chunk of their team is also freshman/transfers, by midseason they should make a very powerful opponent for some of the top teams. we play them in a week and a half so i guess i will see.

Oregon and Florida State should be on there... This poll definitely needs improvement.

SDSU Fall Tourney

Postby AO on Sun Oct 30, 2005 8:58 pm

I had the chance to watch USD at SDSU's fall ball tourney yesterday (Oct.29) and thought they looked pretty good against both Chapman and UCSD (Tritons?). Although Chapman seemed to have the edge on the player-talent scale, USD played a better team-game. Chapman did make a 3-goal rush towards the later minutes of the 2nd half, but time ran out. Also, I noticed the Chapman longsticks started stick-checking a bit more vigorously towards the end, which seemed to douse USD's offensive fire. But, again, not enough time.

I watched the first half of the UCSD v USD game, which, when I left, I believe was tied 3-3. Contrary to the other game, I thought USD had the edge on talent, although UCSD's #25 was probably the best attackman on either team. Also for UcSD, #7 seemed to be the best longstick I saw for the day. Weirdly enough, he played man-up with his pole in their game against SDSU.

Man up long poles seem to be popular with California teams. Last year, Aaron Jaffe for Whittier played on the man up unit with his long stick, and he was a lefty. But, he was also a college all american from Pennsylvania so thats a touch different.

As for national championship thoughts, I would not want to play Colorado State at all in mid May.

i have either CSU, or Lindenwood winning it all this year. i saw lindenwood play in the tournament last year, and they have what it takes to be a top five team.

Except for perhaps a defense. Also complicating things for them is that they are on probation and may not be eligible to play in the tourney this year.

you are right, they do need to work on their defense. but they did get a lot of new talent so i have heard. is it true they got some D1 transfers as well as a ton of D3? i still see them makeing a run for it.
