Best of the West

Anyone have ties to any of the teams playing in Vegas that can post scores?

I know BYU plays San Diego St. tonight and then Arizona, ASU and Cal-Poly tomorrow.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it down to Vegas this year, but my Dad is down there getting game footage and has been reporting back to me. These are the two games I know of so far, I believe Utah's A-team still has yet to play Arizona State and Cal. As of yet I don't have any Utah B scores.

Utah 12, Cal Poly 11 (this is turning into quite a heated rivalry)
Utah 5, Arizona (UofA) 3

Utes are looking sharp and promising!

Good work Utes!

Look for a regular-season rematch of this rivalry on St. Patrick's Day in Seattle at the Husky Indoor Tournament.

The majority of these scores seem pretty low. Must have been some great defensive battles!

20 minute running halves also helped...but you are right, there are still some pretty low scores.

is there any info on BYU? They didnt seem to control the games as one may think they would against certain teams. I am also suprised by the low scores. Even with running clock, 4-2 scores are very low

All of the Saturday games in Vegas were 20 minute running halves, roughly two quarters of lacrosse. So you can consider the Saturday scores to be about equivalent to a half time score. Our game against Utah on Friday night was a full length game; I thought the other two Friday night games were full length as well, but I'm not positive about that.

On another note, what did people think about the new rule changes? The change on face-offs seems to be a good idea, because I think it will keep players from "timing" the refs. But the flag down rule change seemed awkward. On paper, I liked the idea but in real time it seemed to drag things out a bit. It's difficult to explain, but it just didn't "work" in my estimation. Does anyone know if that rule is guaranteed for the 2006 season, or if it's still being decided upon?
