Now that OU is starting a club, every Big 12 school is now fielding a team:
LSA
-Baylor
-Oklahoma State
-Oklahoma
-Texas A&M
-Texas Tech
-Texas
GRLC
-Mizzou
-Kansas
-Kansas State
-Nebraska
RMLL
-Colorado
UMWLL
Iowa State
Since this is now the case, I think that eventually, a Big XII tourney would be very cool annual event. It would be a chance to see some good B12 South vs North rivalries that dont usually get played during the season and give the smaller less experienced schools a chance to play some good competition. Any thoughts?

The Big 12 conference is actually sponsoring the lacrosse tournament for the next three years, this march in Dallas, next year in Kansas City, and then the year after in Denver. Having them sponsor this event means that all you have to do is pay to get there, the Big 12 pays for everything else. Its nice to see that the big 12 has taken some interest in lacrosse

The statement above about the Big XII Conference Office sponsoring this tourney is NOT CORRECT. The tourney is simply aptly named after the participating schools.

from what i heard at our league meetings is that it was being sponsored
I am very close to one of the gentlemen arranging this tourney, it is not being sponsored by the Big XII Conference.

Even if it isnt sponsored by the Big 12 Conference, this sounds like a great idea. I know the Big 10 and the ACC and maybe the SEC do similar tourneys but the Big 12 will be the only one to have all members participate and should bring some national attention with it.

I am just curious and wondering at the same time if US Lacrosse would cover the Big 12 Lax tourney in March, 2006.

As far as the "Big 12" in lacrosse goes, you have some pretty good talent. Colorado and Tech both made the national tourney and finished ranked #7 and #22 respectively. Besides those two, Texas A&M, Texas and Mizzou have been forces within their respective conferences, all having won their conference and gone to nationals within the past few years. Those teams have the best shot at winning such a tourney, but Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas are improving teams that are competetive in their divisions and will get better over the next few years.
After that, you have several young teams, several of which are either new to Div A or the USLIA all together: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska and Kansas State. These teams will benefit from getting to play some good competiton with the better B12 schools as well as possibly playing eachother. (OSU vs OU and OU vs NU in lacrosse, too cool).
