joining umll
I heard that a while back they treatened a referee and as a result they were banned from the umll? Probably not true but this was what I had heard.

Some of these teams just do not want to deal with the rules of USL-MDIA.
I don't think they threatened an official. If that happened then it is likely they would not be asked to come to any tournaments where UMLL officials were present.

We are not trying to "rip" or mock the madison team, we are just trying to understand their reasoning. To be honest i think most people want them in the UMLL, frankly i do

I spoke to Hal this weekend about them joining the MDIA. I can't see it happening anytime soon. They seem to be at the other end of the spectrum from us.

There are many ways to get the team up and running in the UMLL, but it will take a lot of effort. As Wisclax said in his post they do not have a team that is willing to make that effort. Furthermore, they seem to be happy, so more power to them. The USL MDIA(I made sure to put that to avoid the wrath of Sonny) is not for everyone. If a day comes when a mojority of the team wants to step up and make a go of it, then they should look for admission to a conference. Until then, just let them be. Nothing good can come from pushing a program to a level they are not ready for, trust me, I know.

I like Hal. He is really helping the sport grow in Wisconsin. He has given guys the ability to play this sport in an area where it needs to grow. His league has also let some teams rebuild. He brings a lot of positives to the game. If he gets a team that wants to join then we will welcome them.

Guys:
There is room for different perspectives on this. I, as league director, do not see my job as being a "big game hunter" seeking to gather all teams that have any lacrosse into the UMLL. Rather, my first loyalty and duty is to the teams that have already joined the UMLL. Not to some schools that may or may not want to be in the UMLL. In short, I want to see the teams that have chosen to compete at the MDIA level and been admitted to the UMLL, enjoy great competition at that MDIA level. And I do all I can for them.
The MDIA level is not for all teams or all schools. It is a SIGNIFICANT financial committment and time committment that is NOT for everyone. AND THAT IS OK! We are not some prosthelitizing group that declares "You are either with us or you are worthless." There is room for the GLLC and for individual team decisions about the level of committment that they wish for themselves. And saying that is not meant to demean or diminish that decision. If UW and others want to stay in the GLLC that's fine and I wish them the best. And I'd suggest you should too because that is THEIR wish.
I know that my perspective about NOT seeking out teams may not be shared by all of you in our league or other league directors. But that's my perspective. I'd prefer to have slow, steady growth - where teams join when they are ready, meet our requirements and don't drop out. I'd rather avoid the problems caused by explosive growth. Typically, explosive growth is results when teams are pressured into joining before they choose to join the MDIA.

Smart
Why does Rob always have to be so smart. I pretty much feel the same way as Rob, just pretend that i made that intelligent post.
If someone does have the interest in joining shoot me PM or email me at JPCarson@csbsju.edu and i can help you figure out what you need to get accepted in the UMLL. Just remember SJU didnt win any games like 4 years ago and we were the laughing stock of the UMLL, for instance our name was spelled wrong on our jerseys, it was Jonny not Johnnies.
