Players on the ground with the ball
If a player is on the ground (i.e. slipped, or fell of his own accord) and he is in possession of the ball, is it legal to check his stick?

I believe it is, but I don't believe it is legal to hit him.

Yes. There's nothing in the rules to prevent it. However, as mentioned, you cannot bodycheck a player on the ground.
