I live very close to Univ of Maryland. It is not a far superior academic school. Maryland and FSU draw the same type of student athletes. Maryland gets no ivy leaguers. Its a good school, but not exceptional.

Except for 2 time all IVY/All American attackman Brian Hunt who played his last year at Maryland. He had started grad school so I'm not sure he counts in this discussion.

Maryland does however draw many student athletes who wish to double major. Many institutions will not let you do this.

As shown in the US News collegiate rankings, Maryland has greatly improved their academics over the last decade or so. But when you are in a conference with Tier One schools like UVa, Duke, UNC, Georgia Tech, & Wake Forest it's tough to get respect.

Haha, I was hoping this wouldn't ever come up. My only defense is that it was my first public speaking engagement larger than class presentations. I caught plenty of flack from my own team... I should have let one of the other captains take care of it. Anyway, I'm just going to claim amnesia from here on out and won't know what anyone's talking about if they mention it. :)
