I haven't seen the rest of the teams this year with the execptions of Colorado, BYU, and CSU. But here are my thoughts. Yes BYU did beat CU but the first half was won by CU when both teams played only their starters, while the second half both teams played the rest of their bench and that is where BYU won the game. Next CU did beat CSU on saturday when both teams played only their starters all game. So I would have to say that Colorado should be in the top 5 and even the top 2, really if you think about it they lost 4 players from last year team plus they added more transfers again.

According to Flip's journal, CSU split their team into 2 squads and CU beat one of the CSU half teams.
Fall Ball is no way to judge a team for 2006. UCSB doesn't even start school until the end of Sept, beginning of Oct. Their fall ball teams are way behind all the schools that start in August, yet they seem to do alright in the spring.
CU should be in the top ten, but no amount of huckstering will get them to #2.

CSU Invitational

Postby stillwater killa on Sun Oct 09, 2005 11:50 pm

CSU did split their two teams....Into an A and a B team. To discount Colorado's victory by citing that is ridiculous. Flip's journal even acknowledges CU's win against their starters. I would not advocate moving the Buffs into the top 5 by any means, but they did beat the preseason #1 team. Granted, fall scrimmages are much different. But, give credit where credit is due.

I thought this was interesting but I wasn't going to comment on it, however after his last remark to Catlax Man (and the fact that most of his comments have disparaging undertones) I wanted to make sure everyone know's where his loyalties lie.

I am not sure why a CU pundit would be lurking as a BYU fan, but he is not.

CU pundit?

Postby stillwater killa on Tue Oct 11, 2005 12:31 am

2 things:

1) No comments are made in a pejorative manner. I harbor no ill-will for anyone.
2) CU pundit? What would make you say such things? I have no loyalties, I am an objective observer of USLIA lacrosse. My son went to BYU, is that acceptable?

Just trying to clear things up.

Oh, well then sorry for misunderstanding some of your posts. I didn't realize you had a "son" that played for BYU. However quotes like these two from last April and July make your above comments, well, interesting.

The facility where they host their home games is unfairly biased in their direction. The ceiling and walls are all painted white and it took me and my team around 3 games just to get comfortable. I'm not insinuating that this team is not good, clearly they are very good. But, I think with fairer circumstances, the outcome of some of those games would be different. I think they will perform fantastically in the tourney and upset one of the top teams.

CU played 3 games at Michigan just a few weeks before you posted this....

He put in work, but he is not unstoppable. Good body defense and quality lifts and pokes can slow this kid down. By the way, Cameron Archibald is not a god. Despite what you may think, this kid is not omnipotent and he can be beat. I've seen it happen numerous times. Why don't all you pundits get our name changed to BYLIA if they're all so good? Just a thought.

CU played Lindenwood in the first round of the tournament....

Thanks for clearing things up, sorry if I got the facts wrong.
Oh, by the way, tell your son I say hi.

What about Utah? a team that was ranked 14th and didnt lose anyone important to there program while still picking up a bunch of great players. They should break in the Top Ten this year.

Utah is for real...they are flying under the radar screen, but are a solid team.

I saw Utah play last year and they have an attackmen from Minnesota and he told me they that they didn't have a senior or the team (of course that was like 5 months ago, so he might have said a small number like 2, but either way it wasn't huge, if any). Either way, that many kids coming back, a top 15 team last year, plus some sweet chemistry and they are looking to be a top 5-10 team...

Guys, I kind of did not what to say much but Oakland only lost 3 guys last year. We still have one of the best attack lines in the MDIA, with Nate Reynolds, Joe Opron, and Jayme Brams. Oakland has a tuff schedule, with some key games. They pretty much handled Virginia Tech until the last 2 min. Beat up on Minnesota, and beat Utah. I think most of you might think since Billy is gone that Oakland will not be as good, I beg to differ. We have 20 freshmen (best recruiting class), 5 were 1st team All- State, and the other 6 were 2nd or 3rd All-State. The numbers this year is most in schools history with 31 guys. This really does not mean much until the season is played. I think Oakland would be one of the team in the top 10. Here is there schedule:

Oakland University Men's 2006 Lacrosse Schedule

to me 'handled' usually refers to a game won by 8-10 goals
