Status of WSU???

What's going on in Pullman? No WSU team last year was really disappointing to see; the team has a nice history.
Any word on whether they will re-join the PNCLL?

Peter, almost all of us would love to see Wazzou back in the PNCLL. But it can't be as a loose-knit bunch of partiers without true leadership and a commitment to being a true "virtual varsity" MDIA member. If they can get their act together, get reinstated as a sanctioned club sport at WSU (which they no longer were last year), find a real coach, get strong backing from the club sports department at the school and have real player leadership step up on AND off the field, then I would predict they will be unanimously voted back into the league.

But that doesn't seem to be the case yet. Strong alums like Ryan Kelley and Josh Saunders held things together for years there in Pullman, and without a player from within to pick up the ball and get things going again like Ryan and Josh did, along with finding the coaching and administrative support necessary to compete in the A Division, I don't see this happening any time soon. And what a shame it is for all us to consider another PNCLL season without the Cougs in the mix. I'll keep my fingers crossed that maybe this happens for the 2007 season -- but the impetus has to come from the Cougs themselves, and not from anybody outside Pullman.

Thanks for the feedback, Dan. So I guess I'm calling out the Cougs...I've met a few of you over there that want to play. Time to put down the bottles and the bongs and get it together. Dan Wishengrad's comments prove that there is support for you at the league-level if you get organized and serious about a return.

Put an ad in the Evergreen newspaper and see if there are any grad-students with lacrosse background to serve as coach. Put up ad's around campus to rally players.

I am pleased to announce that a group of Wazzou students, led by Jake Randolph, has begun to rebuild the Coug Lacrosse Club from within. Their goal is to get up and running during 2006, hire a real coach to lead the program, and hopefully schedule some scrimmages this coming Spring. Then, if they can recruit enough players and rebuild a solid relationship with the school's club sports department, to apply for re-admission to the PNCLL for 2007.

We are all rooting for you to succeed, Cougs! Best of luck and let us know what we can do to aid your efforts.

thank goodness for that news! the pacific northwest has been making great strides in the game of lacrosse, noticable in just the three years I've lived here, but having a PAC-10 school without a program is like giving a cigarette to a kid; it stunts growth! way to go to the inside guys who are doing something about it though.

Today I met with the Club Sports Director. Things in Pullman are beginning to get accomplished.

So far we are having unofficial practices three days a week. Today we set up a practice schedule. We are beginning to have official practices in two weeks.

I am holding an informative meeting next week to recruit new players. We have established an Executive Board of Students and mended our relationship with the Club Sports Director. Both of us agree that Lacrosse at WSU needs to be treated with a virtual varsity mentality.

We lost our funding this year for our club but we still have remaining funds from last season.
