I am reading this trivia question, "Who was the only modern U.S. president to not throw out the first pitch at a season-opening baseball game?"
Answer: Jimmy Carter.
William Howard Taft started the tradition in 1910.
How come didn't Jimmy Carter throw out the first pitch at a season-opening baseball game? Anyone who may remember any reason for this.

I don't know about his aversion to baseball, but this is the same President that had claimed to have been attacked by a rabbit while he was in a CANOE! Yep, those evil swimming rabbits are a nasty sight

I would love to see someone coming up with a picture of evil rabbits swimming around.

Having been bitten by a rabbit I can tell you it's no laughing matter. I still have a scar on my right wrist from one of my encounters (don't worry it wasn't rabid, just old and crotchety). Needless to say we got rid of that one REALLY quick!
Maybe the rabbit saw one too many showings of Monty Python and the Holy Grail!!

The first link explains about as to why the former President Jimmy Carter hates baseball so much (remmy he played softball); furthermore, you will read the baseball players' quotes about the Big Grin:

Here is another one:

Pray tell, I still don't understand why he did not throw the first pitch, yet he talked about Pete Rose, apparently played baseball, and is a fan of the Atlanta Braves.

If he hates baseball, it sure doesn't show on the outside. He and his wife are at Turner Field ALOT, sitting in Ted Turner's box (right next to the Braves home dugout). Assuming the Braves make the playoffs, expect Jimmy to be there for many of the games in ATL.

Just because he's in Ted's box doesn't mean he likes baseball...Mr. Turner has had his own political aspirations for a while, so that my have something to do with it.

Agreed. But he is at ALOT of games and I've read/seen a few media reports that Jimmy is a big fan of the Braves as a Georgia native.
