Thomas, don't you know that there have to be twice as many non-Texas teams as Texas teams before the name is changed. I mean c'mon, you act like the conference name is supposed to representative of all the conference's teams.

And before anyone offers up the "Who cares about the conference name when the conference performs so poorly out of conference" argument, realize this. Those two issues have NOTHING to do with one another. One is a conference issue for the conference leadership to deal with and the other is a competition issue that the individual teams must contend with. Is it a minor issue? Yes. But that does not mean that it lacks significance. Also, please refrain from the "Who cares", "But it sounds cool" and "If they don't like it, they can join another conference arguments." Those are all non-starters.

Correctness in a conference name has value in and of itself. The conference is not a "Lone Star Alliance." We are not an alliance of only Lone Star teams. That name excludes non-Texas teams. To be correct, our name should be the "Lone Star-Sportsman's Paradise-Sooner State Alliance." I wouldn’t think that anyone would like to use that monster as a conference name. People use geographical (i.e. SELC) and ambiguous conference names (i.e. Big 12) for a reason. They are simple, represent all the teams in the conference and are correct. There are plenty of options out there, and I'd like to see all the non-Texas teams put some pressure on the conference leadership to get it changed.

I don't know Gary I like the sound of the LSSPSA. Sure it sounds convoluded, and nobody will remember it, but what the heck. It is inclusive.

And when were done fixing the league name, someone convince the president that we should change our country to the "48 connected states, and two non- adjacent states whose peoples no longer are united on thier ideals" of America. That way no one gets pissed off.

Oh, and the last time I checked, there are eleven teams in the Big Ten. I wonder if they waste their time trying to rethink the conference name.

Funny Big 12 story...At the LSU vs Oklahoma National championship game, a Sooner fan tried to hit me after I asked him: "If you don't win the Big 12, do you get a Little 11 trophy?" For those that don't remember K State won the conference but Oklahoma still got a bid to the Sugar bowl.

That same year a UGA fan spit on me when I told him at the SEC championship that "the only thing better than beating Georgia was beating them twice!!" I guess I should watch what I say.

Come on Mike...They were both just jokes, but I guess neither of those guys saw the humor. My mom taught me a song about sticks and stones when I was little. My guess is their mom's didn't know that song.

I do follow one "Southern Gentleman" law: I never use my horn when someone makes me mad on the road. I just wave at them.... But sometimes I don't use all 5 fingers.

If you are talking about football, basketball, etc., TCU is in the Mountain West Conference.

If you are talking about lax, TCU is in the Lone Star Alliance, Division B-North.

Thanks Brent, TCU is going to be in the B division again this year. This is going to be a very big building year for the team. We are hoping to play a few A division teams this season also. Lookin forward to playing everyone in the upcoming season!
