Do the names Hollywood Henderson, Stanley Wilson, Eason Ramson, Len Bias, Cyril Baptiste, Chris Washburn, Barrett Robbins, etc. mean anything to you? How about guys like Lyle Alzado & Tony Mandarich? Are they exempt?

These lists could go on and on. The point is that (1) these guys are not immoral and (2) their problem is not just confined to the sport of baseball. It is a problem for every sector of every community, although the holier-than-thous are quick to point fingers at high-profile people that have problems. It sells newspapers. I'd rather see them point their fingers at the thousands of people who every day get in their car while being intoxicated and put everyone's life at risk. Now there's something for people to get worked up about. In the grand scheme of things steroids in baseball or any other sport is just a blip on the radar.

Testify.

I second that. I think for some people the steroids issue isn't so much about using drugs as it is about gaining an unfair advantage. That is what tends to get folks upset. Bringing it to the public's attention does help to keep the whole drug and alcohol issue in a more prominent position on the radar screen. IMHO.

Then, educate yourself. A man much wiser than me said something to the effect that those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Yes, I'm sure that none of those oversized, hepped up individuals walking on the football field are not using any enhancement compounds. I'm sure they are the worst offenders. Weren't several members of the current Carolina Panthers caught this year? I'm sure the NFL's testing policy is set up to not create too much of an uproar.
There is no way the football players have gotten as massive as they have without pharmacological help.
Also, in regard to an earlier post about cocaine, it was the NBA in particular at that time that almost got lost in the snowstorm.

So, when are they going to release the information? Is it even true about Clemens?

I am still trying to remember why the phrase was used a long time ago, "Say it ain't so, Joe." I'm bringing it up because I know some folks will think that thought when they hear rumors about the Rocket.

Supposedly it is a quote from a young lad talking to Shoeless Joe Jackson, one of the stars of "Field of Dreams" and previously an outfielder for the 1919 Chicago White Sox, more famously known as the Black Sox for allegedly throwing the World Series. Eight players were accused, none were ever found guilty, but Jackson's career and reputation were ruined. He was the star of the team, and the eight players involved were banned for life from baseball. (Take that, Pete Rose!)
Here is a link for more background on the story and the era.

You are correct. That is a response to Shoeless Joe Jackson. I still think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame along with a few of the other players. Comiskey was an abomination(sp?). Apparently one pitcher had a deal in his contract for a bonus if he won 30 games. Comiskey benched him to prevent him from winning 30 games. This story is just a tip of the iceburg. He would pay you a salary then charge you for everything.

I am pretty sure that no news ever surfaced about Clemens, I bet it is because he hasn't been pitching all too well in late August and Sept. Now that he is not the top-contender for the Cy Young, all the steroid RUMORS (cause thats all they are) are gone. Pretty interesting, sorta like Lance Armstrong having the French spread rumors about him doping.
