As the students return to campus, the teams will start to take shape. At Willamette it looks more and more like there may not be a team this year, to further confuse everyone in an attempt to realign the B division. I was voted in as a president of the club last year, but I transferred. I was one of the 2 or 3 people who actually cared about the team, or the sport, period.
Instead of a legitamate sport it has become more and of a joke there at WU, the players are fluid, coming and going as they please, no coach. A former player was installed on the sidelines last season to pose as coach. Since which players would show up on any given game day was never known at WU the last two seasons, people were often asked to play under listed team members names, many a time we enlisted various football players who would love to get a few hits in. (This becomes a moot point as WU lost every game in which these infractions took place)
I hope this changes and someone makes this team more of a reality, but for now it does not look good. I have talked to several of last years players and they do not plan on playing this season. 10 players at this point would be a miracle, let alone 20. Just a little insight on the team so the rest of the league knows. Maybe there's a coach out there who can help them out?

WU
We all realize that Willamette has been struggling, but the situation you describe is very serious. Playing ringers will absolutely not be tolerated in the MDIA, and it sure doesn't sound like Willamette is striving to become a viable "virtual varsity" lacrosse team.
This is a perfect example of why a team has to have more than one or two dedicated players before they can be considered a good candidate for PNCLL admission. It was one incoming Freshman who started the program at WU, and when he left things just fell apart and have kept going downhill ever since. I'd imagine the Executive Board will have to investigate this further before allowing WU to come to the AGM expecting to schedule games for 2006. Anybody who can shed any additional light on the status of the Bearcat Lacrosse club is welcomed to send me a PM which I will share with Josh and the rest of the Board...

Dan, to me, that post seems like it is intended to attack the current team/leadership. Who knows if its true, maybe it is, but I still don't see the point in posting it in the first place, other than to recieve some negative attention at WU.

Well it doesnt really sound like an attack to me and since no one at Willamette has posted a reply denying what bearcatlax has written, it would seem that he was being honest. I guess we will find out for sure by September 24 at the latest.

All I see is; no one cares about lacrosse at WU, we cheated all the time, I hope that changes now that I'm gone, & can a coach donate some of his time? It was a pretty long post for that little question at the end, and the person asking it was not longer a part of the WU lax. The entire post just strikes me as a bit off for some reason. Maybe I'm to skeptical.

The post I made was no joke, no exaggeration, and no attack on any of the current leadership because there is NO CURRENT LEADERSHIP. You all have seen my posts on this site before, I have never been one to take a low blow, I love this game and this league, I want to see every team be as legitamate and competitive as possible.
The point of my post was this: WU has been sliding along under the radar and has been bending the rules for the time I was a player there. I was a new player and could not question the leadership at the time because it was always the way they had done it. Had I not transferred, I would not have made that post because I WOULD HAVE TRIED TO FIX THE SITUATION MYSELF. Since I transferred, that is obviously impossible. The type of infractions I mentioned are very much true, and there are many others that I am sure I could mention but won't because they are not as serious. I have no reason to attack anyone, the current players are all my friends, I want them to be able to play for a legitimate team, they will not be able to do so if no one comes in and cleans up their act, and I believe they do not realize how they are breaking the rules. I was hoping and looking forward to being able to that, my search for a better academic situation led me elsewhere however.
I seek to be an informed and courteous ambassador of the game. I love this game and would never sink so low as to create or spread false information for any reason. I am shocked after my earlier posts to not be taken seriously. If someone does not help that team out, if the league does not take a hard line against fringe teams like Willamette AND Washington State, etc. then this league will never be as great as we know it can be.
Thank you for your understanding ahead of time, if you have any more questions you are more than free to send me a message. Thank you.
