Any more talk of the recruits in Eugene? All I've heard about is the all-state attackman from Washington and an all-state defender from hood river. I know there's a heap more- or at least kids that Coach Barbour told to come play (including me).

^^^ yeah as far as I know the U of O is getting the following recruits from what I have heard:
The two guys who listed themselves on laxpower: Bennett (mid) and the west linn guy.
Clay Knope(Att) and Brett Retallick(mid) from Lake Oswego
Will Desiervo(mid) from Sunset
The attack from Issaquah, I forget his name
Dan Wise(att) from South Salem
Craig Ritchie(mid) from West Salem
Tim Bates(mid) and Jason Domogalla(Def) from Sprague
Zach Dehnert(att) from Sheldon
Trent the goalie from North Eugene
I know I'm forgetting some others, but thats still a large class. I hope no one gets cut because thats never fun.

I'm curious to know the operating procedures you guys will have at Oregon with such a large turnout of rookies. Do you guys have tryouts? Will you have some red-shirts? Will you have a practice squad or A and B teams?

I don't know how josh and joe are going to do it this year, but last year we had tryouts and cuts for the first time in program history. it is bitter sweet that we are getting enough guys with talent to come out that we have that ability, but it is also sad that some guys probably won't be able to continue to play the game any more.

Craig Ritchie from West Salem possibly the most underrated player from Oregon this year. Best player you've never heard of, guaranteed. Should compete for a spot on the A team if you ask me, he's got passing, handling, and a shot that made goalies cringe, no joke. All the prospects UO is getting look good, don't forget about Ritchie though

sounds pretty sweet to me.. i thought you guys always had two teams though, your "a team and a "b team/practice squad?.. anyway, a lot of solid talent seems to be finding its way to the pncll lately.. i've heard sfu's also had another strong recruiting class, though they lose a couple to graduation and transfers..

Montana Class
Ive heard plenty of rumors and nothing concrete about Montana's incoming class. Ive heard of a couple possible DIII transfers and some freshman out of colorado, utah and vermont. This is all speculation we dont know anything untill Fall Ball.

Personally, I think it's money that anyone in the PNCLL has to make cuts due to the turnout that they're getting. I would kill for that on the high school team I coach. I think the players are so much more dedicated to helping out the team when they're fighting for playing time. Nice work.

turnout
Chris I know where you are coming from! But sometimes a huge turnout can be a mixed blessing. If you have talented players rotting on the bench it can also breed dissension in the ranks and hurt team chemistry. This hasn't happened to Oregon yet -- Coaches Barbour and Kerwin have done a great job keeping everybody happy there in Eugene so far. But I have seen this problem surface on other teams, including a local men's club team.
At UW we probably overperformed last season given what we had and what we were missing. But with our tiny roster (only 20 players to start the season) Coach Hush made sure that everybody had a role to play, every single guy got to play some significant minutes and guys who might not have seen the field at all if we had more depth were happy to contribute what they were asked to do. Sure I wish we had a few more legit Attackmen in 2005, for instance, instead of playing middies there every game. But it worked out pretty good -- better than any of us expected before the season began, in fact. But the truth is we got blown out by an Oregon team that had much more talent than we did.
With the explosive growth in high school lacrosse in the Northwest, hopefully all teams will start getting the needed infusion of talented Freshmen coming in every season.
It looks like the Ducks may be heavy favorites to three-peat in 2006. But watch out for Oregon State! The Beavers could be the best-kept secret in the MDIA to start next season...

fair enough, if not coached well.. but i don't think it's coincidence that the top teams at nationals always have the biggest rosters..

This coming from someone who votes in the MDIA polls! The Beavers can't even beat that purple team from the NW.

Gee Julian, while I am honored to receive such an atypical testament of love from the PNCLL's Ambassador of Sportsmanship and Respect, I must humbly point out I was making a prediction about 2006 and not justifying the #1 vote I gave Oregon State in the final '05 Top 25 Poll.

Well, I must say that I am honored to have received such an understanding and heart felt praise from a man of your stature. It is nice to know that there is at least one person out there who has taken the time to see the real me. Ambassador...I like like that!
