What about Fort Lewis

The 2013 tournament returns to Greenville, SC this May.

What about Fort Lewis

Postby rmstolley on Tue Feb 08, 2005 12:19 pm

Hey guys, what about Fort Lewis? We are ranked number 2 and for good reason. Yes Zippy (Bue) left the Fort but we have more than enough talent to replace him. Look out for freshmen Charley Collings and Chad Murphy, they will be putting holes in many nets this year  . Our middies have excellent versitility and our defense is rock sold. Our only big problem is we only have like 14 guys.... [/b]

hey, if your worried about small numbers, welcome to Division B. UVSC if i remember correctly only had 12 last year, and they still played pretty well. losing Bue will be a blow, but fort is good every year.

Well, you might be able to get through the season, the tourney is a different thing. Granted Div. B, you will only need 3 games to become champs unlike 4 in Div. A, it will still be a tough endurance race as you will be playing 3 good teams.

Fort is Fort. They ALWAYS have great talent. The div. B crown is either in the hands of Fort or UVSC, although I hear this year Montana State has put together a strong squad. UVSC won the Div. B title two years ago with only 11 guys playing in the championship game. Lack of numbers can sometimes be a good thing because you are so used to playing with each other and know each others tendencies on the field. I think this is a struggling year for UVSC as well, new coach and loss of some big names- Lehrky, Dave Preston. We could see someone new on top. I still pick either Fort or Boise on top in the end.

with the tournament being as such this year and the apparent quality of so many of the the teams throughout the top 25, i'd say that stamina and pacing a team through the tournament is going to be crucial. with what will probably be a fairly arbitrary ceding, there's no guarantee that the first game will be a walk through - a team's going to have to be in top form for every single game just by the nature of really not knowing anything about the other teams. with that fact, i'd give the edge to teams that are going to have a deep bench, and not just deep, but quality deep - especially at middie. i don't know a lot about all the different rosters of each team, but i know there are teams out there like st. johns and i'm sure others that seem to have bigger numbers (i.e: >15). getting rosters posted on the this site will be enlightening to some degree i guess.
I feel like i'm taking crazy pills

We have about 37 guys on our roster. When are they expecting that database to be up and running?

The database is up and running for you to enter your roster and schedule. Have your coach/player rep contact whoever is incharge for the UMLL on this site.

The Fort is going to do just fine this year and people will have to watch for Tyler Poo. They also have a returning core of defense along with their number one D man coming back from studying over seas. They will however be missing their golie from last year as well but im sure something will fall in place down in Durango.

Last time I checked lacrosse was a sport for gentlemen. No need for the cheap shot. And I agree, the Fort will continue to be successful in '05; however, their schedule, early, looks VERY difficult, and it will be interesting to see how they bounce back if their faced with a rocky start.

We are going out to Cali to see ASU ( :x ...) and claremont (?) and San Diego State (?) does any one know about the last two? we really dont know anything.

We do have a good team this year. I’m glad that we have a tuff schedule that will get us ready for playoffs and nationals. We don’t think we will have a rocky start, but if we do we have the character to bounce back from it. Also there are only 10 guys on the field at once! So as far as numbers goes I don’t think it will affect us. I can't wait for the snow to stop to get outside!!!

Most all of the RMLC Div B teams have hard schedules, so its not like the Fort has it alone. Past that...I think there is too much favor being pushed their way....no one is looking the way of teams like UNC, who is always good, who was a Div A team 2 years ago (even though that was a wierd situation). Also...you cant base everything on what you saw over the fall. I know when we played Fort...we only had half of our team and no coach at the time. So....lets start talking when the ball starts droping.

bottom line - fort is good every year. We always have great games against them and are looking forward to the turny in a couple of weeks, it should be a great measuring stick for all our programs. I wasn't here for the last couple of seasons, but i look forward to yet another great match-up between our two squads.
