Lacrosse Flip-Flop Flap??

Postby jessexy on Tue Jul 19, 2005 5:01 pm

so what's going on with the FLip-Flop Flap. Northwestern National Champioship Women's Lacrosse team visits the White House and half of them wear flip-flops to meet the President. Im totally confused. Who cares? i wonder if W cracked open a 12-pack with them, too? at least ole Billy Clint wasnt there to smoke cigars with them.
peace.

There are some guys in my office who thought it was disrespectful--younger guys too. I could care less, personally. Oh well...get over it and move on. Besides, if Bush was raising a fuss about it, maybe he should raise more of a fuss about what's going on in Iraq.

This is so funny to me. If you look at all the other girls who aren't wearing said "flip-flops", they are in open toe shoes. So who's to say that those sandals aren't proper. A sandal is just an open toed shoe with no back.

And besides, one has to realize that these girls are at the white house because of their athletic skills not their fashion sense. Heck, I think it was two years ago when the a couple of players from the all-american football team wore jeans and a sport jacket to the white house. And there was very little fuss about that.

I don't think Bush has anything to do with this, its all the media raising a big fuss. Bush was probably wishing he had wore his flip flops.

And I agree with what someone said on the WDIA forum, you can't even tell in the pictures, you wouldn't even notice if it hadn't been pointed out. It's not like they are wearing shorts and a t-shirt with them.

Today is July 23, and jessexy posted about the flip-flop controversy at the White House. Waco Tribune Herald had a front page article about the "Flip-Flop Flak" (page 1A and 8A). I could not find it at the Wacotrib.com website to post that.

Basically it explained about some of the Northwestern University women lacrosse players wearing flip-flops during a photo shoot with the U.S. President. It talked about Gen X, Gen Y, baby boomers wearing blue jeans, yes, flip-flops way before the Gen X and Gen Y folks. It talked about the current generation wearing flip-flops for casual and comfort.

I see young women wearing those things to church and other formal occasions all the time...no big deal! It looks nice and finally gives a woman the choice of comfortable footwear.

Plus D.C. is soooo hot during the summer. It is up there with Texas and Louisiana hot (it was built on a swamp). Also, they were proably walking to the museums on the mall after the pics w/ Bush.

The lesson here boys and girls is...If you do something like this, don't do it on a slow news week.

Go for it! But only if they match what you are wearing just like the flip-flops went with the girls' dresses.

Lacrosse Reference on TV. In tonight's episode of American Dad the dad asks his son if he likes the lacrosse girl he hooked him up with. Obviously the flip-flops did not influence his opinion.

That episode last night was the pilot, made long before the "incident." Speaking of, American Dad might be the worst show on television outside of George Lopez's show.
