Only in a tournament like this, could the "Best Team, Dollar for Dollar" in these United States, make it to the semis after going 0-3 in the round robin. Go Vols!!!! GO AMERICA'S TEAM!!!!

By the way, how many "doctors" from UGA showed for the tourney?

Georgia Tech beat Florida 9-5 today to win the 2nd annual SELC Alumni Tournament. Brutally hot day here in the ATL. GT beat an undermanned Tennessee squad in the 1st semifinal, something like 9-3. Florida nipped Auburn 7-6 in the other semi.

Thanks to all who came out to play. And special thanks to Ken Lovic for organizing the event, fields, t-shirts, and beverages! It was a lot of fun to see some of the past SELC players take a run or two, even if they have lost a step or three. :)

Fla State, Va Tech, Clemson, & South Carolina need to get their acts together for next year's event. I know you guys have enough alumni to pull it off.

Glad the teams made the trip. Looking forward to making next year bigger and better. Hope everyone had a safe ride home. See you all next year!

I am still hurting today... and this year from the running, not the night activities. And yes, I ran like 20 yards at least 3 times...

Thanks for the pix Dave. EXCELLENT stuff, as usual.

Sometimes I think you could photograph paint drying and make it interesting. :D

Cue the Bob Marley and hand me a spoon...

Any truth to the rumors that:

1) UGA and Ga Tech played a combined team, including several "Doctors" with UGA credentials.

2) Ga Tech featured a grad student from Notre Dame.

3) Auburn was stacked.

4) Joe Weatherly was MVP of the tourney.

Your powers of observation are absolutey amazing. Don't know if Waldo or Adam are "Doctors", but if so, then sure.

Auburn featured a defenseman, Dobson, from UNC, and an attackman from Denver I think. But the thing that really pissed me off was that UF had all three Powells. But the late-night party at Oasis pretty much nullified their super-powers.

I was in school long enough to be a doctor, but alas I'm just a lowly groundskeeper. Thanks to Dave for the great photos as always, and I'll second that Joe Weatherly was the MVP of the tourney.
