Should the all-star team reflect the all-conference roster or be more balanced?

Here as a solution to your problem.

Don't post the teams on the message board and expect every person to see it.
Contact a team representitive, ie; the coach and inform them that these are the players selected to play on the all-star team.

Select three goalies per team, the first two to respond get on the team.
1: Last year, I played goalie
2: This year at noon there was one goalie so I ran home to get my gear and came back to find GayBizzle in the net without a throat guard or chest protector, not sure if he had a cup not that it matters for him (He's a catcher)

Two years of not enough goalies is ridiculous. You can play a game with no subs, but when people are paying $6 to see us play an all-star game we better have a goalie.

I had the second best save percentage...
Also, no offense but the second idea was stupid 2 of 3...you saying the UMD and U and ST Thomas and SJU didn't deserve more then 2?

Although i could have communicated better with the other guys, its unfair to say that only players from duluth or minnesota knew about it. This is a place that people from our league should visit in order to be informed. Ever since the the beginning of the season, people were aware that there was going to be a game and that if you got all conference, there was a chance that you would be selected to the team. Apparently, people dont care about being in the game and playing so maybe we shouldnt even have a game next year. If people from moorhead or stevens point bother to complain about their guys not making it and then not even showing up or without telling me that they couldnt make it....gives people a good reason not to put them on future all-star rosters. Basically, using a lack of communication as an excuse for not knowing when or who was playing is bs in my opinion. I say that anyone from this years team who didnt bother showing up, should not be allowed to play next year, but from the sound of it, most people dont care whether or not they play.

Hmmm. . .

Contacting a team representative would have been a great idea. That would account for the people who do not look at the board every day.

Also, the posting date could have been out earlier. By that date and time I know that two of our three reps were out of state by that time for jobs and the other one was stranded without internet for about 3 1/2 weeks. Plus a lot of us 'pointers' who wanted to come watch had commitments related to the WI high school tourney.

my 2 cents

As much as I think it's bad for people to not show up without letting you know, I think that if the only notification was to post it on a message board with a note to let you know if people couldn't show up, then you really can't hold it against people. At the very least, you should have had people let you know either way, so then you could figure out who you hadn't heard from and contact them individually.

Realistically, I'm sure a lot of people stop reading this board once the season ends. How much harder would it have been to e-mail the list to the players or, at the very least, the coaches.

OTOH, if you get a confirmation from someone and they don't show up without giving you enough time to get a replacement, I think they should be banned from the next year.

To whoever was talking about people showing up because their coach is rob or mr. larson, you are wrong. My coach happened to be rob, and he never sent out one e-mail, so your post is void to the entire duluth team (I can't speak for UofM). I knew I had to go because of reading the msg. boards.

About what laxref had to say on the message board.....people cant kick the addiction that uslia.com is that easily. I know that when I was in yellowstone and other parts for two weeks, I went to a public library in jackson, wyoming and checked out the site to see if there was anything on. The point is that people know this site is a tool that people use to get information out about anything lacrosse related. There were lot of people on this years team who were selected last year so they know where to find this information. To say that people didnt know where this information was posted is ludacris (and not the rapper).

Off of the subject, but I feel bad that people have to pay money to see such an unorganized event like we've put out the past few years. Where is this money going?

my bad on the graff and lars comment. I was wrong about that. Just lars and graff are the only coaches that frequently post the board and most league information goes through them because they basically run everything. A bad assumption made by me.

Since uslia.com is not officially affiliated with USLIA-MDIA or the UMLL i would not consider it a place to be "offically informed". With my interaction with the league this year NO actual information was ever posted on this site only. There was either a mass email sent to all of the teams email accounts or to the specific parties involved. All of these emails are on UMLL.org.

This day in age you cannot just spring things on people and expect them to drop everything in their life for a lacrosse game that is somewhat meaningless and just for fun. People have work, live out of state, family vacations, hot dates (i was suprised johnny e didnt have one), and whatever else people do in the summer. I am sure most people were dissapointed if they were not able to play (at least the SJU guys i talked were).

Props to Eugene for putting this thing together though. It may not have been as smooth as everyone hoped- but we as a league can only learn from it. I am assuming EZ put a lot of time planning it and selecting players and we should all thank him for that if we were selected or not. THANKS EUGENE

I wish I would have known that some people weren't going to show.

I'd step in and play any possition (even goalie).
