Baltimore Bayhawks just set a new record again
Just read that the Bayhawks won, 31-9 over the Philadelphia Barrage. Of course, I don't have any access to CSTV or TiVo or whatever to make something out of that game. What about y'all?

I guess this scores shows the overall lack of sportsmanship in the world of lacrosse.

They're professional lacrosse players! Sportsmanship shouldn't have a lot to do with it when the starting goalie only makes 3 saves with 20 goals against before being yanked. Should they have shot nicer? I don't get it.
Always on point . . .

Baltimore M Josh Sims put the Bayhawks on the board first with a goal on an assist from A Tom Marechek followed by an unassisted score from M Paul Cantabene. Bayhawks A Mickey Powell continued the early scoring streak with a goal, assisted by A Tom Marechek, and D Danny Cocchi notched another Bayhawks goal on an assist from player/coach A Gary Gait. With Baltimore up four goals to none, M David Curry slammed in a two-point goal off an assist from M Drew Pfarr, ensuring a six-goal lead against the Barrage midway through the first quarter. Baltimore M Josh Sims earned his second goal of the first half quarter with 9:57 remaining on the clock on an assist from A Mikey Powell. Philadelphia M Matt Striebel battled through traffic to put the first Barrage point on the board with 7:01 remaining in the quarter, leaving the Barrage down six points. Minutes later Baltimore M Gavin Prout countered with another Bayhawks goal off a pass from A Mikey Powell for his second assist of the quarter. M Josh Sims drove in hard to the goal for his third goal of the quarter again assisted by A Tom Marechek putting the Bayhawks up 9-1. With less than two minutes remaining in the quarter, Baltimore M Gavin Prout and Philadelphia D Brian Spallina received matching penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct to conclude the first quarter.
Baltimore carried the scoring momentum into the second quarter by keeping the pressure on Barrage G Brian Dougherty. A Tom Marechek notched his first and second goals of the game within a minute of each other, the first coming with 11:21 remaining in the half on an assist by M Drew Pfarr, and the second score off a pass from M Mark Frye. A Mickey Powell extended Baltimore’s lead to 12-1 on a goal assisted by M Josh Sims with 9:39 left on the clock. A Gary Gait earned his first goal of the game from an assist by the high-scoring A Tom Marechek with 9:23 remaining in the half. Barrage A Michael Springer notched an unassisted goal with 6:36 left to diminish Baltimore’s lead to 13-2. Fellow Barrage teammate M Matt Striebel followed with another unassisted Philadelphia goal and a second goal driven past Baltimore G Trevor Tierney off an assist from A Ryan Boyle with 2:24 remaining in the first half. Bayhawk A Tom Marechek, with an assist from A Mikey Powell, put up his third goal of the quarter putting Baltimore ahead of Philadelphia 14-4. With under a minute remaining, Philadelphia was forced into a goalie switch after Brian Dougherty went down in front of the goal, leaving G Todd Schreiner in for the remainder of the game. At the conclusion to the first half, Baltimore showed 14 goals to Philadelphia’s four, reminiscent of the first half score a week earlier in the New Jersey/ Baltimore match up on June 5th at Towson University.
The third quarter opened with Baltimore continuing to pressure the Philadelphia goalies, this time with G Todd Shreiner in net. Bayhawk D Danny Cocchi was guilty of slashing shortly into the second quarter, but M Jeff Sonke was still able to improve Baltimore’s tally 15 goals to Philadelphia’s four off an assist from M David Curry. Barrage A BJ Prager retaliated with an unassisted score of his own leaving Philadelphia behind by 10 points. Baltimore A Tom Marechek found the net for his fourth goal of the game off a feed from A Gary Gait putting Baltimore ahead 16-5. Barrage M Chris Rogler received a flag for unnecessary roughing nearly midway through the quarter and Bayhawks A Gary Gait took advantage of the power play to score another Baltimore goal with the help of M Josh Sims. With the power play goal, Gait extended his streak of goals scored to 31 consecutive games. The third quarter was also full of penalties from both sides and after the Barrage penalty expired, Baltimore M Paul Cantabene was called for a one-minute holding penalty. Philadelphia later followed up with a score by A Doug Knight from A Ryan Boyle to hold the score at 17-6 with Baltimore still in the lead. Bayhawks M Jeff Sonke countered the Barrage goal with an unassisted score putting Baltimore back ahead by 12 goals with 4:29 remaining. A Gary Gait continued to put more points on the board for the Bayhawks with a goal off an assist from M Gavin Prout holding the score 19-6 in Baltimore’s favor. With 15 seconds remaining in the third quarter, A Mikey Powell found the back of the net on an unassisted diving score around Barrage G Todd Schreiner. The score at the conclusion to the third quarter left Baltimore ahead 20-7 over Philadelphia.
The fourth quarter was filled with more scoring action by the Bayhawks. A Gary Gait led off the quarter with two unassisted goals, the second goal the result of an amazing behind the back shot. A Tom Marechek followed with his own incredible over the shoulder shot into the net to put Baltimore up 23-7. A Matt Alrich also notched his first career goal off an assist from M Gavin Prout and A Mikey Powell followed up with an unbelievable running dive into traffic to score Baltimore’s 25th goal of the game. With 9:34 remaining in the game, M Mark Frye found his way to the net for a two-point goal putting the Bayhawks up 27-7. M Dave Curry notched his second goal of the game with 8:08 remaining in the game but Barrage M Michael Mollet countered for a Philadelphia score with 5:40 remaining on the clock. A Gary Gait continued the Baltimore offensive attack with his sixth goal of the game off an assist from M Paul Cantabene, putting Baltimore ahead by 21 points. Philadelphia had one final attempt to put points on the board with a goal by A BJ Prager off a pass from M Doug Shanahan. The final goal of the game came as a two-point score off a hard shot from M Mark Frye from M Jeff Sonke. The final score, 31-9 in favor of Baltimore, broke numerous MLL scoring records. Baltimore set the new margin of victory at 22 points, improving upon their record-breaking 16-point margin of victory in the home opener against New Jersey. The Bayhawks’ 31 points against the Barrage broke the MLL record for points in a game, previously held at 29, and the record for all-time goals scored in a game, previously 27, was broken by Baltimore’s 28 goals today. The Bayhawks’ 31 points is also the new record for most points scored by a MLL team in league history.
The Bayhawks will meet the Rochester Rattlers in Rochester on June 18 before returning to Johnny Unitas Stadium on Sunday, June 26.

If 31 pts and a 22 pt differential isn't excessive, then I can't even imagine what would be.

Baltimore is definitely the sickest team............. B-more has 7 guys in double digits for points after only 3 games.......Boston has the same record , but only 4 players are in double digits....They are spreading the scoring around to the point where it has to be more difficult for a defensive unit to adjust. I mean it's hard enough to adjust to Mike Powell anyway. Hopefully they'll keep it up......

Gait, Marachek, & M. Powell as a starting attack, no one can match the creativity and ability there. The defense works well together, and likes to push the fast break. It's a good combo for a team.
As far as excessive scoring, they scored 31 on the team that had the record at 29.
I've never been really against running up the score. My team learns just as much from losing a game 17-4 and another 9-6. I've been more insulted when playing, and other teams hold the ball, and put D-poles at attack. Play the game, learn from it, get better. My men's team had a debate during a game this season, and we ended up holding the ball on offense when we were up 20. Some of the other team liked it, and thought it was nice, others were pissed off because they had to play defense for 10 minutes straight, while we refused to shoot. I was glad to be on the sideline and not on the field for that, and would have been pissed off if I were in their shoes as well.

Gotta love the season the bayhawks are having......They went into Long Island without Mikey Powell and Christian Cook and still took care of business. Almost set the record for GB"S in a game too..Their third attackman Alrich has really come on strong.....I guess now that the cannons lost, it makes it that much more exciting to think B-more could go undefeated.....The July 16th game (bayhawks/Cannons) should be a great game to watch......
