Which varsity teams are playing MDIA programs this year?

Postby Sonny on Tue Feb 08, 2005 3:12 pm

Regular season, '05 spring games only. (No scrimmages!)

I know of five varsity opponents for sure:
Whittier College (CA)
Colorado College (CO)
Notre Dame de Namur (CA)
Dominican University (CA)
St. Vincent's (PA)

Are we certain that Bellarmine a varsity team this year (or a club team that will go varsity next season)?

Bellarmine web site is listing Mizzou game as scrimmage, along with Miami of Ohio scrimmage on Saturday, Feb. 12th.

I did see Wittenberg listed Michigan and Mizzou as games, not scrimmages.

Is St. John Fisher Div. III? If so, A&M is scheduled to play them.

Bellarmine is varsity this year, however if they are listing their IA games as scrimmages, then that's what they are.

Michigan vs. Wittenberg was a scrimmage.

Peperdine website indicates they play MIT on 3/20. MIT website indicates they play Clark Univ on 3/20 in Worchester, Mass, no Peperdine.
Huh?

Sonny,

We should somehow submit to Laxpower the games that are not actual games. Like Mizzou vs. Wittenberg and Bellarmine, since most poll voters look at Laxpower to base their polls on.

Also, anyone else who finds some other scrimmages that are actual games should list them as well so we can have legit schedules on the Laxpower site.

Thanks

i think that only MDIA vs. MDIA games should be listed on laxpower. It can produce distorted results because its possible that one of the teams would consider it a scrimmage.

It appears that Laxpower lists true games between MDIA teams and DII or DIII teams but does not count them for goal differential, strength of schedule etc. The varsity team is listed as an independant. The varsity team has no power ranking, no quality win factor etc. They do not even list their record. Apparently, it counts as a win but no more.
See the UCSB v. NDNU or Whittier games as an examples.
