It was 6-1 at half! To be down 5 goals to the number 4 team in the nation is not bad. Maybe giving up 6 unanswered is?

Both teams played well, to say U of M blew out Oakland is a joke! Why dont you ask JP if he thinks his team blew out Oakland.

For B Division, if I am correct...

#1- San Diego
#2- UVSC
#3- Montana
#4- St. John's
#5- Davidson
#6- Calvin
#7- Harding
#8- Southwestern

Sounds pretty good. We will have to see what the voters think on Monday. I think spots 1-4 are pretty solid. Should be interesting.

I may catch some flack for this, but I honestly think CSU still deserves the #1 spot. There is recent precedence for this. Remember Illinois' b-ball team lost in the final game of the regular season (they lost 22/72 1st place votes) yet still remained number 1 in the polls. CSU showed they are the #1 team in the nation with their play throughout the entire year.

I think Michigan is the real enigma in the top 5. I honestly have no clue where to put them. That being said here is my best shot:

1. CSU - Only 1 loss with wins over BYU (by 2), SSU (OT), UCSB (by 2).
2. BYU - Beat #1 CSU (by 1) UCSB (by 4) & Michigan (by 1) but also have loss to CSU (by 2), SSU (by 1), Zona (by 1)
3. Sonoma - Beat BYU (by 1) and losses to SB and CSU were one goal games.
4. UCSB - (AQ) Despite 1 goal win against SSU, losses to CSU and BYU were both by 2 and 4 goals
5. Michigan - (AQ)They could just as easy be at #3, I put them here because they have only 1 game againt the top 5 (1 goal loss to BYU)
6. Colorado - with tight games against CSU and BYU, as well as a win against Oregon

Obviously 7-13 becomes very difficult

7. VaTech - (AQ) Techs wins against GA Tech & FSU is more impressive than Oregon wins against the Zags and SFU
8. Oregon - (AQ) See above
9. UCSD - They may a better team, but with no wins against the top 10 how can they be any higher?
10. Arizona - Several great wins (BYU, Utah, SDSU) but some really unimpressive games (Michigan, SD State, ASU). "What have you done for me lately?"
11. Lindenwood - (AQ) Undefeated but with no games against the top 20 teams who knows how good they really are? History has shown that teams like this get spanked at Nationals.
12. Florida St - Wins against VA Tech (by 7) and GA Tech (by 2) and close game against SSU are nice. Loss to Minnesota is bad, but the Gophers did make the tourney.
13. Oakland - My heart would love to put Utah here, but Oakland has wins against Pitt and a close one to Michigan. Utah has win against Cal Poly but just didn't show up in their last two games.
14. Minnesota - (AQ) Win against FSU is impressive; losses against GA Tech (scoring only 1 goal) and Auburn seem pretty weak.
15. Northeastern - (AQ) The biggest question mark in the tourney. Of all the 16 teams they have been seen the least by the rest of the country.
16. Texas Tech - (AQ) I don’t want to bash the LSA so we will just let "16th seed" speak for itself. (I think the LSA wont be down for long).

I agree that CSU may still be the best team in the MDIA, but I have a problem with a team that didn't when their conference being the number one seed. I also think you have to put SB over Sonoma after todays win. On a side note AQ's are bogus and Utah should make the tourney.

You make a great point. 2-5 are really up for debate. My philosophy was to look at the season as a whole. SSU has 2 one goal losses while UCSB has a loss by 2 and by 4 (of course this was on the road). All 3 teams seem so close that it is hard to decide who deserves the #2 and #3 spots. Despite your obvious confidence that SB should be ahead of SSU, I think Sonoma has a great argument for a #2 or #3 spot.

You seem to be taking this personal, calm down. Like I said before, I am looking at the season as a whole. You are looking at 2 games (the conference championship games).

CSU has 1 loss by one goal the whole season. SSU has 2 losses (double OT at CSU, and 1 goal loss to SB (I wasn't there but is seems it took a superb effort by Patton to pull it out in the end). The SB loss to CSU was essentially a home game for them and the BYU game was the largest loss between all of the top 5 teams.

We will see if the voters look at the whole season or the last two games.

I've got to agree with Bluevelvet. Although BYU has more losses in the regular season & playoffs than CSU, they should get #1 by virtue of their victory over CSU. CSU should be no worse than #2 (and I do understand why some would argue that they should still be #1). UCSB should be #3 with their playoff run of victories over Arizona, complete dismantling of Chico, and the win over a very good Sonoma team. Sonoma just should not be rated over UCSB at this point, based on today's result. #4 & #5 are a tossup between Michigan & Sonoma, but I think it should go to Sonoma. Michigan struggled with Oakland and their schedule was not as difficult as Sonoma's. Sonoma gets the nod with their victory over BYU and their OT game with CSU.

SSU has 2 losses (double OT at CSU, and 1 goal loss to SB (I wasn't there but is seems it took a superb effort by Patton to pull it out in the end). The SB loss to CSU was essentially a home game for them and the BYU game was the largest loss between all of the top 5 teams.

First of all, the First 4 game was not essentially a home game at all for SB. They did not have the benefit of arriving the day before the game, but rather had to travel by vans in horrendous traffic over 2+ hours the day of the game. Yes, they had more fans there, but it was no way anything like a home game for them.

I can understand the argument that CSU should still retain #1 based on the fact that they only had one loss and BYU had a couple. I think BYU also has a legitimate claim to #1 based on them winning the RMLC. Good luck to the voters on that.

UCSB has to be above Sonoma based on today's win. There really is no other way to look at it. If you're not going to knock down BYU for their loss to Arizona earlier in the year, you certainly can't knock down SB for losing to BYU in a sleet storm almost 6 weeks ago.

You could throw Chico into that group of teams even though they struggled against a strong UCSB squad. Its all a big toss up. They also played Sonoma to a closer game then UCSD. It will be interesting to see the final polls. Also Patton had the sickest goal against Sonoma today towards the end. I dont know if any one saw that. Just thought I would throw that in there. Props to UCSB
