RMLC All-Conference TEAMS

RMLC All-Conference TEAMS

Postby MountaineerLax on Sat Apr 16, 2005 12:04 pm

The RMLC coaches were just sent out the notice that All-Conference Nominations will be accepted 4/15 - 4/20 and the voting will begin 4/22.

Due to the amount of teams in the conference (5 Div A teams & 9 Div B teams) the breakdown on nominations will be as follows:

Division A teams will nominate 10 players (3 must be from a different team)

Division B teams will nominate 6 players (2 must be from a different team)

Hey MountaineerLax, how are we supposed to vote for the All-Conference players? Is it going through the "Team's Input" section on rmlax.com? Just curious...we don't want to leave anybody out because we didn't vote you know.

Voting will hopefully begin this evening (April 25, 2005) as i'm still waiting on a couple of teams to get their nominations in. It will indeed be on the website (rmlax.com) and I will be sending out more information to the team reps that are the contact list through the execs. Thanks.

All coference

Postby Dpole4 on Sun May 01, 2005 12:25 pm

I was very disappointed with the all conference selections made. Mines was the only school not to get a player on the all conference team, and I feel they had many deserving players. At Goal Chris Mace (#45) had the second most saves in the nation including some amazing saves with one on one’s, on D-pole Cole Ones(#6) and Chris Roemmich (#25) both shut down top attack men all year along with going after every ground ball and having a great ability to take the ball past midfield to the offense. On midfield Zach Emick (#27) on the defensive side, Scott O'Connor (#22) and Bud Ribley (#8 ) on the offensive side were dominate all year long. At attack, Kevin Schmidt (#10/#19) had an outstanding year highlighted by seven goals in one game against CSU-P, and Scott Szymanski (#21). Along with a coach who came in this season and turned the team around, taking the team from zero wins last year to 3-5 in our conference, including a win over Ft. Lewis who had defeated the Mines squad 14-0 just this fall. I am not trying to take anything away from those who got selected, they all worked very hard for it, but I feel that with all the talent on this Mines team it seems a little wrong that not a single person would get the honor of all conference. This post was not written out of spite, I personally did not play well enough to deserve to get all conference this season, but instead out of respect for all of the deserving players on the much-improved Mines lacrosse team this year.

Perhaps you should express that displeasure with the RMLC leadership and/or the Mines Coaching staff who did the nominating/selection process for these awards.

How does CSU get two on 1st team and Anderson from CU gets 2nd team?
I am skeptical.

My guess is because Anderson did not show up until the second half of the season. He was average up until the CSU game.

Plus, to my knowledge, Anderson wasn't hurt. But you look at the way he played in his first game against BYU to his CSU and end-of-year performance and there is no comparison. Personally, I would probably take him over Davis if I were picking sides, but Davis had the better season, which is what the award is for. Cunningham and Stanitz-Harper both had over 55 points. No conspiracy theory.
