There are consolation games, but the entire back side of the bracket is not played out. In fact, often times, teams are matched up to intentionally avoid conference rivals playing for a second (or third) time in a season.

Really??? Then why did CU play BYU for a third time last season in the quarter-finals and more than likely will play them again this year for a third time in the quarter-finals? Riddle me that.......

Because that's on the championship side where the seeds determine who plays who. Chris was talking about the consolation side of the bracket. After a team loses in the first round, they then try to match up teams who don't normally play against each other.
