Do you have to have something special (like a sports pack) to get BYUTV? Or is it part of the basic package for dish network?

No. BYUtv is not part of the DirecTV sports pack of channels. It is listed with the Religious/Public Access/Spanish Language channels. You must have one of the oval DirectTV dishes to receive this band of channels which is broadcast on the 2nd satellite as I understand it. If you have one of the circle DirectTV dishes, you won't be able to get this band of channels. BYU is channel 374 on DirectTV, if I recall correctly.
P.S. I had Dish Network over 2 years ago and BYU TV was not available on that satellite service. Don't know if that has changed since I converted over to DirecTV.

All new DirecTV orders give you the Oval Dish. Therefore you will get it with your basic service. The Sports pack gives you lots of NLL games and CSTV plus a few regional NCAA broadcasts. TIVO makes sure you don't miss a thing.
Right now you can get a 70 hour TIVO (installed) for $50! Hook that up to a DVD recorder and you can have the whole lax season on DVD!
BTW- The new TIVO's have a USB port on the back...Who knows what the future will bring???

I have the most basic package of Dish Network and we have BYUtv. You may just give them a call if you subscribe and see what you need to do to get it. It may be that you just have to go high (really high) on the dial and see if you alredy have it. It's probably different in all areas, but I'm pretty sure all subscribers either have it or have the opportunity to have it.
Always on point . . .
