I'm sure that this was not planned by the UGA squad, but that the song was played by someone up in the booth.
I'd like to say that this demonstrates either extremely poor judgement, incredible ignorance, and/or horrible sportsmanship.
Is this thread really happening? Am I actually reading this drivel? Lets look- USLIA players are generally 18-22 years old. I happened to be 29 when I played in the league, but thats beside the point. 18-22 years old, in other words, grown freakin' men. Dry your tears little one, it is just a game, and one helluva a game a that. If someone had spit in the face of a Tech or UGA player, that would merit a gripe but it is A SONG played after A GAME. Catching the drift here? Grow up. There are bigger fish to fry in this world and your post is, in my opinion, a waste of bandwidth.
Do you want to talk about sportsmanship? Well I drug my old sportsmanship handbook and I just couldn't find the page where it talked about boohoo-ing after a loss because you didn't like the announcer's music selection. I did, however, find the page where it talked about taking your lumps with dignity and keeping your mouth shut. I'll make you a copy if you would like.
The game Lacrosse has always been played by warriors. Since its inception, men have lived and died on these fields. my suggestion to you is to do some reading. Read about the Iroquois and the fierceness with which the undertook these contests. Read about the Cherokee and the extensive pregame purification rituals that those players underwent. ( there is an excellent example of this in a book called "The Trail of Tears- The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee nation" by John Ehle.)It is not for the meek, I assure you of that. After you have done this reading, take a moment and reflect upon the roots of this contest and you will see why I view this thread as an affront to the game and its traditions.
