I know the current rule for redshirting. If you are on one game roster that counts for a year of eligibility lost. I'm not sure what the rule on this was in the past, but Deppert did play in 5 games last year with Boise. So tell me, what are the facts on red shirt for past years because I'm curious since I only played in 5 RMLC games too. If that counts as year of redshirt I may have a new motivation to go to grad school.

If you can get away with that....then I only played in 2 games my sophmore year because of serious injuries to my hand.....so I would love to get a redshirt for that

Sorry you must have been watching a different game because western has three different faceoff middies two of which only played against boise and #3 alon went 9-16 on faceoffs in that game there for 90% wins for Deppert is def. false. Big up for trying to stand up for your own guy but supporting it by saying he was good at faceoffs isn't the way to go considering Shuman on ur team #3 had a better day at faceoffs against western.

The rule was that if you played in three games you could not red shirt, him and I both played in the first two games and our third against BYU, I hurt my hamstring pretty bad about two minutes into it and he separated his shoulder about 5 minutes into the game. We both wrote letters to the league committee and were granted medical redshirts. If you look at the stats for the last two games it had him listed as "playing" Deppert had no stats in them. Our coach just didn't take him off the roster for those games.

I don't really know what anyone one wants Alex to do about this. Are you guys waiting for him to say he isn't playing in the turny this weekend? He is a good player and wouldn't be playing if he wasn't able to. If he has earned it, people had better "vote" for him, i think thats how all this got started, by people asking otheres not to vote for him cause he may be a 5th year player. I just don't get why we waste our time in these rooms talking about trash when we have a sweet weekend coming up that we have been looking forward to our whole seasons. Alex is good, He'll play in the turny, and we should all be talking Lacrosse.
Oh...thats so hot!

Everyone wants Deppert to play and he is fine to play.
Trost, I am playing BSU on Thursday; therefore, I have mentally prepared for my opponents. I have researched their entire team. There was never a call to remove him or anything like that. Bessides, Deppert is a worthy face off opponet for me.

Here's the deal on Alex Deppert: Under MDIA rules for the '03-'04 season, any player who only played in three games or less would be granted a redshirt. Alex was injured in our third game of the season vs. BYU (March 13, 2004 @ Provo, UT). Alex's injury was season ending. He didn't pick up a stick again until after the season was over. Yes, Alex has been playing in the RMILL/RMLC since 2001 (his freshman year). But with the rules for '03-'04, he is still eligible for play. AflacLax, I see that you have done your research skimming the rmlax.com site, yes it does say that Alex played in 5 games last season in the Division B 2004 stats area. The only explantion I have is that our coached forgot to "uncheck" the box next to his name on two occasions when entering stats. I would ask him myself, but he is no longer our head coach or is involved in any way with the team.

The only other information available for previous seasons is the schedule and the results with stats for those who scored. Alex is not listed in any games after our March 12th game vs. UVSC because 1)He didn't score in the BYU game due to his injury and 2)Because he didn't play again for the remainder of the season.

I don't know what else to say about this...but Boise State has already been contacted by the RMLC, and it is all being sorted out as we speak. Boise State (this goes for all our guys) are done with this thread as everything I have stated above is all that needs to be said.

Hmmm....

Postby MountaineerLax on Tue Apr 26, 2005 5:45 pm

Well, I still think the issue is very much alive.

Playing 5 years is illegal. Plain and Simple. There are hundreds out there that wish they could play another year, but they can't, and their teams do not allow it.

Played 2 games and got injured 5 minutes into the 3rd.... that very well maybe. However, all we have is a stats page that SAYS he played 5 years, and more than 3 games. Box checked or not... it's as official as we've got, and up to this point HAS BEEN the official archive. Incompentance is no reason to brush this issue off. If someone isn't clear on the way the stats work, get someone in there that is.

There is an allegation on the table, and until it is defended with solid evidence, I think everyone is thinking foul play here. The executive board has the right to look into it. Afterall, what good are rules if they are not enforced? Isn't that what we PAY our president to do?

It is unfortunate that this issue could not have been caught earlier. It could result in some very unfortunate consequences.

you know...its when you shoot the ball between your legs by bringing your stick over your back so the head goes right between your legs and you shot the ball out....its cool to see...

Actually I saw Dave Stilley of all people do it once in an outdoor game playing for Spots Men's club team...
