This has been a really disappointing season in the LSA. Im proud the league was able to take a step forward in organization, under oustanding leadership from Karl Lynch, et al. But I really disappointed in how the league has performed and represented itself. from teams:
folding
to getting suspended
not defending the home turf from OOC teams
to not defeating hardly any ranked opponents
to having not one team ranked in the Top 25
to a team not showing up for its playoff game
maybe its just me. but ive been negative all season long. has anyone else notcied the step backward that the Lone Star Alliance has taken? is there a way to regain that lost footing and take some forward steps next season? can we find a way to stop bickering about the name of the conference or league MVP (or newly renamed Best of a Lost Cause Award) and concentrate on winning games?
winning games is what counts in the end, right? trying to win a National Championship is the goal, right? just asking, cuz i thought getting a seed in the LSA semis was the highlight of the season for some. (nobody in particular).

While I agree that this year may not be the highlight of the LSA's history, I will disagree with you placing all the importance on winning. I can't say that I am not disappointed by the way the LSA has performed against OOC opponents, but I am at the least proud of the competetiveness within the LSA. I can not remember a year where the LSA Champion could be one of four nearly equal teams.
While winning games, and hopefully winning a National Championship is the ultimate goal, I know that no LSA team has EVER won the whole enchilada, can we blame this years teams for not beating their OOC opponents (well kinda, but at least they are losing to the better teams in the USLIA)
I for one am glad that it isn't just the UT and A&M Alliance like it was throughout the nineties. No longer are they the only teams playing Top Ten teams in the USLIA. Now the entire league is scheduling OOC opponents and in the coming years the LSA will win those games. I see a lot of promise in the future of the league, but that does not mean you will see results this season. While having more talented players filling the rosters of the LSA we have no where to go but up, especially after this year's OOC losses.
It is easier to ridicule the LSA than it is to defend it, but the overall progress is much more important than two teams dominating a conference. Once the ENTIRE LSA is better, the League will be closer to par to the powerhouse Leagues like the WCLL and the RMLL.
We as League should continue to host tournaments like the successful one in Arlington, and learn from the mistakes of others (like the pathetic Houston tourney.)
Keep the faith Jesssexy, your League will make you proud soon enough. You remind me of a parent upset with their child for performing poorly at school, don't worry; you gotta trust that it will all get better in the end.
My reccomendation; Let's concentrate on making this League better from the ground up; i.e. more press exposure, better League website, more communication intra-League concerning tourney's and playing facilities, etc. After all is said and done, the teams in the LSA will represent that success that has been established by its' administration.

Something the Metros wil never do
I am revelling in FCD actually scoring goals, which leads to winning games. Top of the Table for the local boys.
I can not remember a year where the LSA Champion could be one of four nearly equal teams.
4 equal teams? so, your saying, that it doesnt matter if the teams are equally mediocre. lets play the example game and look at the NBA Atlantic Division. they have 3 teams in the playoffs, and they were are pretty even throughout the season. but they were all barely above or below .500 and all three teams will lose out of the playoffs in the first round. so the competition in the division was good but all the teams werent.
Miami played in a sorry division and dominated, but theyre a good team with a chance at winning the NBA title. I'd much rather have this scenario than mediocre parity in the division.
and there were only 4 teams in the South to end the season after the disaster that was inside Houston city limits. 3 of those leftover teams made the playoffs (another MLS reference). 2 teams had losing records and 1 team didnt even want their bid to the semis. Positive?
Both the North and South division champions had losing records. i tell you what, im really excited to see some lacrosse in Waco this weekend.
peace.

Well, it seems like all the avenues for discussion have dried up or been locked up.
So I propose this; let's settle the LSA Playoffs with a clean ol' fashioned B-B-Q Cook-off. Instead of playing mediocore lacrosse let's all just eat some pork ribs, sausage, and brisket. We can have each team bring their own pits and we'll make a weekend out of it. No reason wasting everyones time by playing some game that we all agree we love, we are the fattest state let's start acting that way.
On second thought, why don't we just play these games and get this season over with before anyone else gets their feelings hurt over trivial stuff like missing playoff games, or who deserves to be league mvp.
I really wish we could all just get along.

I am a big proponent of anything can happen once you reach the playoffs and i am not thinking any differently about this league's chances of bringing home a national championship. While i am realistic in saying that the odds are not good. I think that you can never count a team out when they go head to head with one team. Anyone can win.
Lets see what happens when the playoffs come. Then do all the negative talking after seasons are over and planning for next year begins.

Beef huh........Jessexy and CP18 are legendary for 'running' beef. Waco watch OUT!
I am glad for once we have shifted a topic to something more light hearted and fun. We have had to much 'dissapointing season' talk this year within the board.
