I couldn't believe it, one of my sophomores actually owns the movie Red Dawn on DVD.... and he loves it.

I watched that with a few of my teammates last year--one of Kurt Russell's best movies (raspberry). Next time anyone watches it, look when the kids go to the outdoor equipment store and they start grabbing all the stuff they need in order to survive the attack. They're all getting ammo, tents, sleeping bags, and this one kid grabs a football. What? What the hell you going to do in between getting attacked--play football?

As far as commercials go, I'm a fan of the "HP Picturebook" theme where the guy/girl has a white frame and they move it around and all of the sudden the frames have pictures in them.

after watching more of that Burger king series......that BK King is really freaky/scary. why do they have the birds landing on his crown at the end?

another funny commercial: the one where the woman is looking in her closet for something to wear and her husband keeps repeating that Eric Clapton song right on the line "looking for clothes to wear...." then she comes out and yells at him to stop it.
peace.

Has anyone seen the Dairy Queen Commercial where the dad says to his kid "make this (playing basketball in the driveway) and we go to DQ for a cheesecake blizzard" ... the dad watches as the kid misses numerous times... finally the dad brings the backboard down and the kid nails the dad's face.... oh it is hiliarious.

The Burger King guy is super scary, he looks like a sex offender luring his victims in with tasty sandwiches. And I agree that Tiny House might be a reality TV show that would not suck. Those Cavemen have to be my favorite. Especially the one on the couch with the laptop, 'that is so condiscending.'

Does anyone remember the Quizno Subs rats that sang about coupons and paper cuts? I found them half hilarious and half disturbing.

& why did Burger King stop those adds with the people in the office? Those were really funny.

I saw the counterfeit Mini Cooper commercial on ESPN late last night after I got off of work. I just went to its Web site http://www.counterfeitmini.org/. It's definitely a joke, but why buy airtime on ESPN for a joke?

The counterfit mini is an advertising gimmic, not a joke. They are actually trying to sell cars by saying (jokingly) hey its good enough that these people are copying it so buy one.

The agency that made those Crispin Porter, http://www.cpbmiami.com/ is the same company that made the Hootie commercial and all the other commercials with the "scary" King in them. (they also did the whole subserviantchicken.com thing, which Im sure bste_lax will post a link for those who dont remember it)

They are currently moving in a new direction, overhauling the "Have it Your Way" and going back to the roots of Burger King advertising in new ways. If any of you were old enough in the 80's you might remember that the character of the "scary" King was also used then. (not that I am old enough, but I have my BFA in advertising, so Ive seen them before)

I also think they are moving away from "office" themed commercials because so many companies are now using the office place for their commercials (Staples, FedEx, US Post Office, etc) and since CP+B is on the cutting edge, they've decided to go the Hootie and the King route.

I am also a fan of the Orbitz commerical where they have a race with an average Joe with 2 kids and a "computer science professor from Iowa" over who can find a hotel cheaper. One of those only funny to me as none of my comp sci professor's at Iowa were that normal looking or acting.

I wanted to find these links before I posted this:

The Outpost.com commercials from a few years back are amazing. You can see them here.

http://allowe.cillix.nl/Humor/video/Out ... Cannon.avi

http://allowe.cillix.nl/Humor/video/Out ... Wolves.mpg

They are too funny to explain, they have to be watched. There also existed a third commercial that was never seen in the US that involved a tatoo artists branding screaming kindergarteners on their foreheads with the Outpost.com brand name.
