Rosters are interesting!

Postby laxfan25 on Mon Apr 18, 2005 8:06 pm

When I'm curious about a player, or just bored, it's interesting to check out the rosters of teams to see where their players all hail from. Earlier this year when Vanderbilt beat some of my "northern" teams I checked their roster (I must admit I don't know much about the school) and saw that they were very cosmopolitan, with several players from the hotbed areas.
One interesting fact that I saw today is that Indiana University of PA (currently undefeated in CCLA "B" play) has a roster entirely of Pennsylvanians!
As a trivia question, are there any other teams that all come from the same state (besides confusion :) )?

Other interesting teams

How about teams without a member from the state in which the school is located. Using the roster posted on this website, Harding University in Arkansas, for example, has no players from Arkansas.

Yup, I think MN Gophers are all from MN. Might be the same for UMD.

Minnesota has a couple Wisconsin kids and one kid from Missouri. Duluth has one kid from Michigan.

Ben Ingram, you are right. Not only are all of the Oakland players from Michigan but they are each from one of two counties (Oakland and Macomb) that are right next to each other. It is interesting to find teams with all players from one state but how many teams can say they have players from only two counties in that home state or have 26 players from only 11 different high schools. I guess they are a local team.

I like to look through the rosters to find players from places that are not really lacrosse states...such as Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, Alaska, places like that...its really interesting to see were some players that you know just picked it up in college are from, and how some of them have become pretty good at it.

GT has 9 states represented:

GA, AZ, NY, NC, CT, VA, MD, MA, & PA.

My first guess would be BYU has the most diverse since their religious affiliation would draw from everywhere. Looking at their roster they have:

NV, UT, VA, NY, CO, IL, FL, MO, MI, MA, AZ, OR, TX, NH, PA, & DE

looks like 16 states.

New Hampshire has players listed from NH, MA, CT, ME, NY, NJ, VT, PA. Total of 8 different states....a while back we had a long pole from Alaska. "Alaska Joe" was his nickname.

I'm also really surprised Boston College does not have anyone from NH, ME, or VT. BC is certainly a well known school in that area, maybe it is because there are not that many H.S. programs in VT or ME? Not sure of the exact number, but NH does have a good amount of H.S. teams although many are fairly new...

How many are from the DFW area on your team? Just curious.
