Just because a team is a B team does not mean that they are not as skilled as some A teams. Talent has nothing to do with the split in most cases. The split was based on Football not A being better than B. I will say that the best teams in the US-MDIA do reside in the A division but outside of the A top 25 you will probably see a few B teams beat A teams, which would not surprise me at all.

I tend to agree that while there may be a substantial margin between the top 25 Div A teams and top 25 Div B teams, there tends to be more parity once you look at the teams outside the top 25 in Div. A and compare them with the top-tier B teams. Claremont, for example, soundly beat Cal last year 9-4 in Berkeley, an outcome that not many would have predicted IMHO.

I know that in years past at the end of the season the top B teams will be given a chance to move up while the lowest A teams would move down. Do we still have that rule?

It has been a long time since you were last in school. The league has changed. Teams with a football team cannot move down to B-division, but I am pretty sure they can still move up from B-division.

UCSB in a pretty easy win over Cal tonight. Final score was something like 11 or 12 to 3. The first half was all UCSB as Cal had a tough time even getting the ball into their half of the field. SB missed many wide open looks at the goal or the score could have been a lot worse. SB's defense was dominant and Patton controlled the faceoffs. SB started substituting very liberally early in the 1st half and almost everyone on their roster played. The play was somewhat sloppy the whole game with multiple people slipping on that slick carpet that they call a field.

Cal has some talent on defense, but their offense was lacking. SB's defense could've had something to do with that. The new player from Berkeley High that Cal has looks pretty good. Cal's team looks young and needs more seasoning. They may develop with some experience, but they could be a year away from making some noise.
