A couple more thoughts on CU/CSU:
CU's man-up was excellent, finishing I believe four, maybe five, chances on the game. It wasn't that penalties hurt CSU because I think the refs did a good job and kept it even, but CU's man-up was just lethal all day.
CU's face-off man #34 was also very good and there was some good cat and mouse coaching on the face-offs all day too. CU did not play to slow the ball down and had middies dodging and going to cage to score. Pete Jokisch had to make several very good stops to keep CSU in the game early. At the start of the game, it seemed like CU was getting every single groundball while CSU was kind of kicking it around the dirt.
For CU's sake, I wish they would play like they do against CSU every game. Like I said before, this was not the same team that lost to BYU 8-4. One turning point was after CU goalie Neema Kasaii made a good save on a shot and had a man breaking up field. The score was 9-8 at this point. His outlet would have given the Buffs a fast break and a chance to tie, but Pat Bird jumped up and intercepted the ball and threw it in the empty net to make it a two goal game again. If CU had been able to get over the hump and score that one goal to tie it, it could have gotten a little hairy for the Rams.
Good game, good crowd. Now CSU will likely play Utah in the semifinals of the RMLC (barring a Ute upset over BYU) while the Buffs will get BYU.

Not much of a defensive battle but definitely an accomplishment by Western State, who has NEVER beat Ft. Lewis in the regular season. On top of that Ft. Lewis is currently ranked #16 in division B - Western State is unranked.

I didnt play goalie against U of U (instead I played a mutated form of long stick middie), the guy that has been backing up for me all season, Tal Atlas did, and played an amazing game. He deffently deserved the start and showed some of the future of the Mines program, which is deffently looking up..
Congrads to UVSC on winning two this weekend...and on the ability to put 55 shots on goal in the first half..something I have never expierenced before, however I still have to say that the Mines defense still played excellent that entire game, and even better against CSU-P.
Also I would like to thank U of U for hosting us, giving us a great lunch after the game and being some of the most up and up guys on the field. They were a pleasure to paly.
