The Tommies' only two losses were to A team Stevens Point the first game of the season and St Johns in OT. Just curious, what makes you think they'll beat us this weekend? Im not being a smartass I was just wondering if theres something you know about them that we dont... Regaurdless, thanks for the extra motivation

Hmmm.... that would be a typo, I meant UST > Bethel, my bad.

edited original post, probably just hit the wrong key and didn't proof it. My All American key is right next to my All conference key also so those mistakes happen.

Re: "sticks acting funny"

Weather is an interesting factor, it does not discriminate, whether (funny!?) you are a Bulldog or Gopher it effects both teams equally. It just seems to be one of the those things that players have to react to. During a recent interview I discovered that...

"Plastics, such as those used in lacrosse heads, expand and cotract with changing wheather patterns, causing athletes to react to diferent situations than those they would normally encounter." - Professor McFue, University of Lacrosse (see also, sarcastic tone, somewhat lost through the written word).

No predictions on the big game? UMD by 5. I admit that I am bias and that I have not seen a men's game this year but if history is correct, the U of M always chokes in almost any game of significance. Especially versus UMD.

As far as weather being a factor....weather forcast is clear and warm on Saturday. So no excuses there. (I personally do not believe that any weather favors any team)

I am gonna go out on a limb here and pick Minnesota over Duluth by 2 in a tight game. I think the guys on Minnesota have something to prove and are hungry for this win. I know there have been a lot of close games between these two teams. I dont see this one being much different. Possibly another exciting OT game? (My pick is also a little bias)

If my memory serves me correct... i believe U of M beat Florida State this year, i guess that wasn't very significant. Also, two years ago, i believe that the Gophs and Duluth went into overtime in the championship game. I wouldn't say that they choke, i think it's gonna be a close game to the end.

Re. FSU, excuse me, two significant wins in 12 years. However, if they are legitimately that good, they will string together a series of "significant"
wins. We will see this Saturday and more importantly, when tourney time rolls around.

Re. UMD vs. U of M 2003 championship game....almost doesn't cut it. UMD almost beat the number one team in the nation last year (Sonoma?). ALMOST!!

I know you will come back and say a 1 goal game is not a choke. But every other year I hear the same story, "this is the gopher's year", and every year (with the questionable exception on 1999) they fall short..... heimlich maneuver.

Who knows maybe I'll will eat my words this year, but I doubt it

I am going to predict a 6-goal victory for the dogs. Duluth's Attack, and midfield will be to much for the U, and not to mention Duluth's D.

But my opinion is bias.

We took sonoma to overtime 2 years ago, not last year. The same year UofM took us to overtime. The point is you come to play every game, any given sunday man.

Correct me if im wrong, but that Sonoma game happened two years ago and this is now....so both teams are different now than they were back then. Secondly, I don't think that you had any impact on that Sonoma game so why bring up a game that you weren't even part of.

PS - The FSU comment was made by a guy from another team so address him directly and not towards us.

Editing my post here, as my response was out of boredom, and not worth the digital paper it's printed on.

Good luck to both teams this weekend.

Finnvick,

I presume you'll be at this weekends lacrosseathon?

Maybe us old fogies and hangers on should try to find a place to have a beer?

With that 6 goal projection, it seems you may already know where that place is.

You are right, two years ago.

and if GooseGuy10 is who I think it is (I don't know who it is but I have an idea), then he actually played, and started in that Sonoma game.

But like everyone else is saying, two years ago doesn't mean anything. Let's see what happens tomorrow and we'll know.

Unfortunately I will not be at the game, I will be in Northfield Coaching the UMD Women's team. But I wish I could attend.
