I got the chance to see the Statcrew software firsthand during CSU's rampage through the LSA back in February at our place. I was impressed and plan to do some armtwisting this summer to convince the team leadership that we need it. It did look like the person entering the stats needs to be pretty adept at the program and using the appropriate hotkeys. CSU had a "spotter" for the statkeeper for whenever the stat-action got real heated.

John Paul,
Are you guys entering these stats straight into a laptop/PC on the field/press box? can you run this software on a handheld PC? We are trying to tighten up our stats both on and off the field and this looks like a good way to go.

We do it on a laptop, right at the field. We also have a portable, battery powered printer with a bluetooth connection so we can get and give printouts at any point during or after the game.
The software can generate pdf files for printing or html files for websites. With an added software purchase, it can also do live web stats - something we're considering for next year at our home games where we'll have an internet connection.

Very, very, very easy. It takes about 20 minutes to learn how to use, and then there many options that you can start to take advantage of as you get better at it. The best part is that you practice using any lacrosse video tape and just keeping score of the game on TV. The hardest part is making sure to have an accurate roster before the game so you can have both teams with correct jersey numbers in there. Anyone can truly learn how to do it if they know how to type.
Always on point . . .
