Down here at The U (Miami, FL) the football team sometimes has recruits that graduate H.S. early in order to play spring ball in preperation for the upcoming freshman season...Not sure if it happens a lot but I remember reading about it in the local paper recently.

It's a new trend, happens usually with like 2-3 recruits each year at the "bigger" schools. Iowa has a couple I know about this Spring.

Guess I'll just have to frequent the bar more than I normally do now.

would that involve a cot?

That would be a dangerous option

The first time I heard about it was around 2002 when SI did a story on USC Brandon Hancock. UW got what I believe is its first mid-semester prep in Blue Springs, Mo., QB Stinson Dean. It's never been uncommon for JUCO guys to get their associate's (a requirement to transfer and earn a DI scholarship) in December and be on their new campus in January.

Morrice Clarrett is probably the player that most people know the best that left highschool early. Most of the big programs I would say have between 3-5 kids that graduate highschool early in order to come to spring ball. Pretty smart move if you ask me. The opposite of this is we have kids the try to stay in school longer so that they can drink and play fallball one last semester after their senior year. Thats also a pretty smart move if you ask me.

Dan, thanks for responding! Good luck to the Huskers on both fields.
That's pretty good if you're a freshman and also a captain. Good work!
