BIG GAME! (Michigan at Oakland)

It will be interesting to see how much this mismatch affects Oakland in the polls. They've been holding on to a fairly lofty ranking based primarily on history - the fact that they beat Michigan last year and won the CCLA. They also had yet to lose this year. Loking back though, they beat Pitt by 1 and had a solid win over Indiana. The rest of the schedule doesn't blow you back.
So in their first big test, they came up woefully short and I think the pollsters have been looking for reasons to shake things up a little. Oakland should rebound against a fading Miami team, but now their rescheduled matchup with Michigan State is looming large. That will be a big game for both.

Did this game almost not happen? I remember an off hand conversation in the fall that this game wasn't on an early preliminary CCLA schedule. Tonight's game not withstanding, I think the rivalry between these two is for real. Should be a good game if they meet again in the CCLA tournament.

They are in the same division of the CCLA so the game was required. There is also one cross over game between divisions.
Most teams that are not in the same division (the divisions were drawn from a hat) but were rivals played anyways. i.e. Western Mich. and MSU, Indian/Purdue, etc.
